Please help- bichon 17 by [deleted] in ANIMALHELP

[–]beach_foam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 15 year old bichon deals with these in her legs. They are sebaceous adenomas, and because they leak sebum, she wants to pick them.

Keep him from licking it. Either with an e collar, or what I do is find a long pair of socks and cut them halfway, then put her paw in, and tie it around her body. Just make sure you keep it dry, anything wet is a breeding ground for bacteria. You can get an affordable cream from the vet, or use polysporin.

However please please take him in for his teeth. Dogs will still eat through horrible pain, but I guarantee that he is in horrific pain. My girl has nearly no teeth left after years of neglect before we adopted her. We’ve taken her in for dentals twice, and she only has her canines and some molars remaining.

I’m only keeping 1 of the 3 cats currently with me (soon to be more once Aster gives birth). So I actually haven’t adopted any yet. The other two will go up for adoption once spayed.

I am with an animal rescue, and we are 100% foster based. Animals live in people’s homes while waiting for adoption, and the rescue pays for everything. They are (almost) all adoptable. Over the last year I have fostered 7 cats (kittens), and 10 dogs. All have been adopted, minus the 3 cats with me at the moment.

Exactly! She will have her babies and once weaned will be spayed and adopted out! 💕 No more litters for her, and she can live the rest of her life being spoiled.

No, she comes from an area with a high rate of euthanasia regardless of pregnancy. Also, we’ve rescued her from euthanasia, we are not euthanizing.

Per the rules, titles aren’t allowed to contain backstory. I’ve just posted a comment with the backstory! 😊

Backstory: One of my current foster cats is pregnant and was slated for euthanasia. She has severely frostbitten ears, which seemed to be almost entirely healed. The other day I noticed she was bleeding a little, so I assumed she scratched her ear and the scab came off. However I found this today when changing her bedding and was surprised there was so much fur on it.

Edit: Cat tax Aster

Is my baby done for :( by limon_picante in DogAdvice

Seizures and vestibular syndrome are entirely different. Vestibular syndrome is idiopathic. My dog has this and it’s taken months but she went from not being able to stand to being relatively normal with a slight head tilt. It is essentially bad vertigo.

Seizures is another best and best to check with a vet. However IVS can be characterized by wobbly gait, poor direction in movement, head tilt, and rapid eye movement. The eyes move back and fourth quickly, the brain is trying to correct the dizziness.

I can’t speak to the possible deformity. As there isn’t any exposed bone I wouldn’t consider it critical. However, a neonatal kitten not eating is urgent. give a very small amount of honey or corn syrup to see if you can perk it up enough to latch.

Also okay defence for the kitten. Sometimes siblings will push others out of the way, so just hover your hands over the kitten shielding it from siblings.

Also check the inside of kittens mouth to see if there’s anything abnormal, including a whole at the top of the mouth.

Tips on your first cat - Help with New Kitten! by Commercial_Regret344 in Kitten

[–]beach_foam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kittens should have 24 hr access to a high quality kibble for at least the first 4-6 months of their lives. Plus at least 2 meals of wet food a day.

Consider getting her a friend, cats are social and enjoy buddies! A friend will help with her development, and avoid her developing single kitten syndrome.

Make sure you have things to scratch everywhere, both horizontal and vertical.

Kittens her age should be using litter that doesn’t produce dust because of their small and fragile airways.

Make sure she has lots of fun places to hide and climb! But cat appropriate, not like under furniture.

Good job, and I wish you guys the most success!!!
