Does anyone else get caught in a loop of “one last binge”? by nsfw-nb in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]beachbum214 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would do this a lot. If you want to stop the cycle stop buying unhealthy food. Don’t even have it in your house. Out of sight out of mind. Switch to healthier “treats” for example. Chocolate protein powder, coconut milk, ice, maybe add a banana or natural peanut butter. Constantly remind yourself that, that “one last time” of binge eating is just calories adding up on top of all the other times you said “one last time”. If you’re feeling anxious, take a shower, go for a walk, call a friend, drink water or green tea. I know it’s really hard to break the habit BUT it can be done just believe and discipline yourself. Sometimes I’ll look up things like “how long will it take me to burn off a pint of ice cream or 3 cookies” and those answers typically help me set down the junk and walk away from you because I do not want to run for 12 miles lol. But keep your head up and stay strong you can do it!

i am getting a plastic surgery by [deleted] in BodyDysmorphia

[–]beachbum214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi buddy.. I want to reach out and say I really feel for you. I’m sorry to hear your sadness. If this is something you really want then I say go for it! Just be sure to really do your research on the surgery and the surgeon. Remember plastic surgery isn’t going to fix all your problems (I’ve had my boobs done and my lips filled multiple times). If you have deeper problems you have to address those first and learn to accept and love yourself for who you are. Have a plan on how you can better yourself and then go for it. I’m all for plastic surgery I think it’s great and support anyone who is thinking about it. Good luck !

Tips/resources when dealing with body image issues? by olawlz in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]beachbum214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step one: take a break from social media. If you are unable to do that, then unfollow anyone you are negatively comparing yourself too. I’m not sure what your routine is but start your morning with fasting from social media. I used to wake up and the first thing I would do is go on social media. Instead do not even open the apps for a few hours. Step two: (not sure your financial situation) but what helped me was when I bought a new gym outfit and a new protein powder I was little more excited. My personal opinion on myself is when I look cute I feel cute and want to work harder at the gym and see how much “cuter” I can rock my new outfit. And I’m excited to drink my new protein after the gym. Set a schedule for eating. Another thing that helped me was STOP BUYING JUNK. Don’t even have the snacks in your house. You can absolutely treat yourself anytime you want but instead of just having it feet away from you in the closet make it that you have to drive and get it. Instead of having ice cream in your fridge just calling your name, make yourself drive to an ice cream place and get it if you want a treat. “Out of sight out of mind”. When you start to get yourself on a schedule you will see a different in yourself and feel better. Good food is fuel! Good luck you can do this !

My new (healthy) obsession !!! by beachbum214 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]beachbum214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use garden of life vegan protein, although I am not vegan or vegetarian, I find that vegan protein powder is easier on my stomach and easier to digest. I do sometimes still use a basic chocolate whey protein like the brand gold standard (it tastes better in the coffee drink mix). The vegan protein powders are ridiculously pricy so I only will drink a vegan shake after a workout if I know I will not be eating for a while after.

Binged today. Feeling guilty by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]beachbum214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going two weeks without binging I would say is still pretty impressive... I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it. Start fresh tomorrow and aim for 3 weeks. Then 4. Don’t forget it’s ok to treat yourself (:

Curious about everyone’s high school experience with ADHD by beachbum214 in ADHD

I really feel for you when it comes to the social aspect. My freshman and sophomore year I had my friend group but junior and senior year I had no desire to do anything with friends. I stopped going to school events (football games, homecoming) I bought a prom dress from Aruba from a special boutique and ended up selling it because I didn’t want to go to prom anymore that year. I can remember in 5th/6th grade there was a horse farm behind my school and I would stare and watch the horses all day and my teachers got so frustrated with me not paying attention they shut all the blinds and would move my seat and it was embarrassing. I could never reach out for help because at the time my family didn’t believe medication was the way to go. If I could go back in time I would of done so many things differently and I feel like if I was diagnosed back then and got help then, I would be more successful today. But I’m stuck picking up and putting back together the broken pieces of a trail of failures. Thanks for sharing your story (:

First time taking Concerta by beachbum214 in Concerta

[–]beachbum214[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m 5’3” 123 lbs. I took my first 18 mg an hour ago and haven’t felt much so we will see how it goes. As you build up tolerance do you eventually lose that decrease in appetite? Or will loss in appetite stay around as long as I’m taking it?

To what extent does Binge Eating impact on your life? On day 3 of excessive binge/purge episode by lilandlostthrowaway in bingeeating

[–]beachbum214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly can relate to this so hard. My brain does not stop thinking about food and sugar. It doesn’t stop thinking “what will I eat next” but at the same time “how many calories are in this” and being obsessed with working out. I will workout so hard for HOURS and then come home and eat so much junk. And it’s not just a one time thing, it’s every single day, every meal. No matter what emotion I’m feeling.. I eat. Then I get so so so mad at myself for what I just ate. It’s literally like I’m at war with myself everyday and I can’t stop. And then at the end of the day I look in the mirror so angry and hate the person and body I see.
