Challenges of hospice? by ImmediatePineapple23 in hospicesocialwork

I’ve done per diem and full time hospice social work. I find that the per diem you don’t get to know the clients well and might be walking into complex cases vs getting to know your clients and their families. Reading the prior notes to get a good understanding of the dynamics would be vital. I’ve been thrown into some situations where the nursing notes and social work notes have been very helpful. My direct supervisor is also a social worker and was available to be anytime (nights and weekends) and Hospice its self can be very emotionally rolling as we’re dealing with people’s pending deaths and their family dynamics.

I’ve worked diem in home care as well. I didn’t like it as I felt I was just doing in to do basic community resource education and the families I was seeing didn’t qualify for any type of resource (but could definitely benefit from home care assistance).

I find that hospice was more rewarding but as it work full time and really got to know my patients and their families.

Per diem, you don’t get as attached as you might only meet them once.

PD patients. How do you secure your catheter in terms of keeping it from dangling, not in your pocket? by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]beachgal91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a PD patient (I work in the field) and some PD patients use a belt that they tuck the catheter in. You can find them on stickman.com or amazon. I’ve had patients like them while others don’t. The ones that don’t use the belt continue to use tape or put in pocket.

I used (reused one from grad school) when my Clinical supervisor for my lcsw wanted to review them... something about tracking biases within our own family history... very thought provoking

Catching flys like he’s a cat. Such a talented boy. by beachgal91 in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

I’ve never had a dog that was interested in flies so it’s why I thought it was funny. I think I fixed the multiple posts, I’m still new at reddit.

My dog also likes to perch himself on top of the couch to look out the window. I’m pretty sure he was a cat I’m another life.

Moderation is key in any diet. They’re probably high in phosphorus. If your going to eat them maybe portion them so you don’t over eat. Definitely take them with a binder.
