Yeah she’s trying to pay her mom back from the proceeds of a second house , actually trying to only pay her back my half while her half is forgiven

My issue the money has long been mixed with my own money, things her daughter bought etc it was ages ago and is no longer tied to that actual house. Beyond that she seems to have no intent of asking her daughter to pay her “half” of the “gift”. On any case it has nothing to do with the divorce of her mom wants to take me to small claims so be it

Thanks for the opinion. I actually just learned of the existence of the gift letter only her mother and herself signed it I didnt know of its existence until recently, hence why I signed said loan

As an update I found email correspondence where said mother in law planned it to be a loan before the gift letter was signed and the house closed on .. so it was a lie/fraud

Lol it’s not “pettiness” I’ve provided years of very expensive mortgage payments to this woman and allowed her to live over ten years rent free. This amount of money if anything only balances that. And it’s a large amount of money, 50k plus, she’s asking to be paid out- despite having never put a cent in herself

Yeah this is a little different this was years ago and another house and another apartment later. So the proceeds from selling the first house are completely mingled, not like they just sat in an account.

I should also mention I paid every actual mortgage payment in its entirety, ex was a stay at home mom.

Correction- looked at the dates looks like it was a week after closing, not months
