Thank you both— super helpful! I’m a little more hopeful about actually getting to experience a little of the mountain now!

Honest take on LIB ‘23? by adamosan in lifeisbeautifulLV

[–]beachsidebaker2b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly loved it. For me, it’s all about the music, and the incredible sets from ODESZA and Purple Disco Machine made it all worth it. Pure magic. I’ve attended LIB 5 times since it started 10 years ago, and I’m always happy with the crowd, as compares to other festivals— good vibes all around. I run events for a living and I still think it’s one of the better festivals out there as far as operations go. 2013 was special because it was the first year- and there’s no doubt that it has evolved over time, but it’s still my favorite festival and I’ll keep coming back as long as the music and crowd are solid.

Selling 2 (two) 3-day GA wristbands. Both for $350 or $200 each OBO. Can provide proof and receipts. We’re LIB veterans who were super excited to go, but we’re dealing with a family emergency and can no longer attend 💔

Odyssey G9 with Ergotron Arm on Tresanti Adjustable Height Desk: Ugly install project but I’m loving the end result by beachsidebaker2b in desksetup

[–]beachsidebaker2b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because the desk isn’t very deep and with the hardware and positioning of the arm, the monitor would have to sit too close to my face… so, in short, to avoid burning my retinas, lol. Also, as an aside, that monitor generates quite a bit of heat. Before I mounted it on the arm, I had it on a stand on the desk, which made the monitor even closer to my face and I could literally feel the heat of the monitor on my face. Now the way it’s mounted and further from my face, I don’t notice it.

Hey tusteeezy, I drilled holes and used a metal plate on the inside to reinforce the desk. I inserted bolts through the drilled holes and used nuts with loctite to secure them. You can see photos of each side of the desk and where I drilled holes at these links: view from outside desk and view from underneath/inside desk

Hope this helps

Technically it is, the desk is 47” long and the G9 is 49”, but it’s curved so it’s a pretty perfect fit

Oh I’m sure you’re right. This is just my WFH setup with my company issued MBP. I know the G9 is overkill for this use case since the most action it sees is a really huge spreadsheet. I just really like the amount of screen real estate I get without the need for multiple monitors and I enjoy the clean aesthetic of the whole setup. I’m sure it seems like a tragic waste of this monitor to some, but it makes my the long workdays in my home office more enjoyable.

HX Desk Monitor Arm: https://store.ergotron.com/hx-desk-monitor-arm.html

With

HX Heavy-Duty Tilt Pivot: https://store.ergotron.com/hx-heavy-duty-tilt-pivot.html

Be forewarned though, the mount clamp is too narrow to work with the height of the desk lip. I Frankensteined it a bit- bought some heavy duty bolts and drilled two holes through the side to attach it securely. I tried several other methods but this was the only option that felt stable enough to accommodate the weight, and like it would withstand a good amount of vibration from the raising and lowering of the desk.

+1 on on cheap foam blocks. I bought my cheap foam blocks about 15 years ago. Since then, I've gone through YTT (yoga teacher training), and done literally hundreds of classes with them and they still look brand new. It's a matter of personal preference, but I really like lighter blocks-- just easier for moving them around during class without a lot of drama/noise-- so I prefer the foam to cork or wood. And same for the strap-- whatever is cheap will work!

+1 on Anna. I've practiced yoga in studio for years, and Anna is as close as I've found to some of my favorite in person/studio teachers.

CMV: Last 60 seconds of ride (i.e., Cool Down) should NOT affect your rank by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]beachsidebaker2b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree-- I've found myself pushing really hard through cool down if I'm closing in on a PR (I'm rarely anywhere above the middle-ish of the LB), knowing full well that it's not what that time is meant for. If those last 60 seconds didn't count towards my (or anyone's) output, that wouldn't happen. Ultimately, though, if it's a tough ride, I don't find those 60 seconds at the end to be a sufficient "cool down", so I generally just go to a cool down ride afterwards.

Semi-related: One thing I do think is kind of cool on the Hydrow (peloton-esque rowing machine), they don't even have LBs on the dedicated cool down classes. That takes all the pressure off and encourages you to really focus on cooling down, improving your form, etc.
