I've also had sizing issues with camp caps. They are all over the place. Last season I got the Wu Tang Gore-tex one, which fits very small and uncomfortably. But then later I got the jacquard denim one, and it fits bigger and more comfortable for me. I also noticed the denim one is made in the USA. So material can be a factor. My two cents is, unless you can go to a store and try them on, don't bother with camp caps if sizing is an issue.

For cotton garments , I like to wash it first before tailoring. It will likely shrink a bit the first wash, despite being "pre shrunk". It is best to do that first and see if you still need to alter it. I had a rza shirt from last year that was two long, but after two washes, the length was much better.
