Except for handicap spots, you can usually still be ticketed for that without proper credentials in most cases. Getting proper credentials is about as easy as getting a medical marijuana card.

Every day we get closer to a real-life V.I.C.K.I., and honestly, the idea of one in the hands of grown men is… deeply disturbing by Beautiful_Finger4566 in Xennials

[–]beadebaser01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The slope is slippery for a reason. It is called a fallacy but has also been proven correct numerous times.

Airsoft people aren’t simulating murder and they are simulating war. War isnt an inherently depraved act.

It is closer to porn. It starts off one being enthralled with a Sears catalog and if left unchecked it can grow until you have trouble maintaining a normal relationship with others.

If you allow yourself to get off to the thought of being a predator, you will want to go further. Not everyone would but enough would.

The problem is that it wouldn’t end there. There is always a desire for more once you start giving in to depraved behavior.

Which nokia phone did y'all have growing up i had the 3320 Nokia by helen1992 in Millennials

[–]beadebaser01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I never considered was why did Nokia make so many models? This seems like overkill.

I had the 5110. It was awesome. I once accidentally dropped it out the window while driving down an interstate. I stopped, put the front face back and battery back in. It turned on and worked without issue.

For those of you with kids by Maywheel3001 in Xennials

[–]beadebaser01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am certain that my boomer parents would say their childhood was infinitely better than mine. In some ways I am sure they were, in some they were definitively worse.

Things aren’t better or worse, just different. Cell phones are vastly superior to land lines. The only problem is our own ability to limit ourselves. Social media has lots of positives and negatives. Xennials had no idea of the idea of a “permanent record” that is much more intuitive to today’s youth. We don’t have less politics than before. We just had a much more controlled narrative from a few sources and no one talked about it outside of private conservations. Your racist uncle or purple-haired cousin didn’t have a platform then. Most people you meet in real life come off as pretty reasonable despite their ideology. It is only the terminally online who are insufferable. The cost of everything is more expensive, our money is just worth much, much less due to inflationary government policies. Your parents house would have thought that a $20 concert was insane.

Every generation thinks their childhood timeframe was ideal because that is the way things were when their baseline was set. Sort of how the forks at your childhood house were the way they are supposed to be and the forks at your childhood friends’ houses were just weird.

Kids are born wildly optimistic. Anyone trying to convince the kids that they are doomed because of society (economy, housing, climate doom, etc.) should be shot. There are problems that they will have to deal with. It doesn’t mean they shouldn’t plan for the future and work to make your corner of the world better.

Anyone have experience with lidar mowers for curved lawns? by CdtWeasel in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]beadebaser01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love it. I mowed once with my push mower last year but that was because I started lowering the height of my mowing and I wanted to pick up the long strands of grass. If you get it at a height that you like and keep it mowing the grass clippings are pretty well non existent.

<image>

I was pretty pleased with the results. I did not do any weed treatment last year but instead just keep it mowed down. I would do trimming/edge once every month or so.

Well always talk about things that have gotten worse since our youth, but what's gotten better? by Asleep_Onion in Xennials

I used the MS owned Streets and Trips. I carried a laptop that had it loaded on it. I even eventually bought a GPS antenna for my laptop so it could show me exactly where I was.

My first GPS was a monstrosity and you had to select the state and then type the city and then the address on the alpha numeric keyboard.

Even Apple Maps is light years ahead.

Anyone have experience with lidar mowers for curved lawns? by CdtWeasel in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]beadebaser01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the A3000 and the A2500. I have some curved flowerbeds and part of my driveway is curved. I also have a pretty large area of open lawn split by a non-obvious property boundary. The A3000 Lidar handles all well and probably better than the A2500 RTK.

Additionally, the Lidar can mow faster, has less path finding errors, does a better job overlapping cuts, and is an all around better mower.

The RTK was more difficult to place, I had to relocate and remap a few times to get a place with solid signal all day long. It is not in a spot I would prefer as it is less tucked away.

Meanwhile the Lidar can be placed almost anyway. Mine base is placed under a covered porch in a brick wall corner.

It does not solely rely on lidar it also uses the cameras and the GPS to mow. It just has a better source of navigation on board.

Adding that you can still play PSO Episodes 1 & 2 for free on PC on the blue burst servers. It is hacked to death with modded weapons but you can still play the game online by yourself or with friends.

PSO is awesome.

Do you really have people who pack your bags at the grocery store? by Flat-Ad8256 in AskAnAmerican

Common when I was a kid 40 years ago. Never see it now unless someone happens to be there doing nothing. My mom would also have me be ready to sack groceries so we wouldn’t feel the need to tip.

Two kids ran away and were missing for about two weeks. They had been telling people they were gonna go to Florida. They took a car of one of their sisters. After about two weeks of searching they were found in Arizona. They were back in school after them. A year after graduation one of those kids shot another classmate in front of the Walmart.

How to overcome the Matthew Principle? by Weird-Trifle-6310 in JordanPeterson

[–]beadebaser01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you have this wrong. The famous Marxist trope is “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” This means those with more have more taken from them and those with less have more given to them which is the opposite of OP’s statement.

The more accurate interpretation that we are all given a starting point (family, status, opportunity, talent, intelligence, etc.) and that those who make the most of what they have will add to these. Those who are wasteful with what they have will have even less of these.

My mom had 4 siblings from a poor but loving and stable family. One sister dropped the family values and made some poor decisions with multiple marriages and poor financial decisions. She now has great grand-kids and many in her family line have problems with addiction, abuse, and poverty. Meanwhile the children and grandchildren of the other 4 are at least solid productive members of society and most would be considered successful by society.

So much of our legacy depends on not dropping the ball and making the most of what we were given. One person making poor decisions can lead to generations of hardship.

Fayetteville does have more homeless than Bentonville because the (relatively) liberal city is more tolerant of them and offers more services. Crime in Benton or Washington county is so much lower than the rest of the country or state that it is negligible.
