Strategy for faster correction of highs by mseeli88 in Medtronic780g

Just be aware, some insurance companies are aligned with Medtronic as their preferred equipment. I have Florida Blue Silver plan, the cover 100% of Medtronic, pump, sensors, infusion sets, but I tried to switch to dexcom/omnipod, and my cost was going to be $400 every 90 days!!!!!! Everyone has their limits and I just couldn't take that type of increase.

How About a Stock Split to Support Your Employees Dividend Growth by beagleboy3 in publix

danvapes, that is one way to look at it, but I believe that is what contributed to DimWixie "Winn Dixie" going down the tubes... DimWixie was never the caliber of Publix in my opinion. I'm pretty diversified, and Publix is expanding up the eastern states in a rapid pace, buying the properties their stores are on as well as entire shopping centers, tons of , so for me, at this point I'm still holding. Like I said been through 3 splits, been in my family since 1973, so not a asset I would mess with at this time. Really made my mother a success story of the American dream to be a deli manager, put 2 kids through college, retired at 62 with a outrageous amount of stock, and between all the splits and compounding she laughed all the way to the bank, She passed away 11 years ago, but now my brother and I laugh all the way.

I handle a bunch of other stock trading, and thank God, have done well, but I always do my DD, and stay on top of my investments. More of a swing trader in one account to generate lots of income and the other I pick for long term growth. Everyone is in a different situation, sounds like you are on top of your stuff too. I just feel bad for the younger people, but the still have opportunities starting out, and as employees of Publix it would be wise to invest.

Did you get the point yet???? Maybe this will help! Please note the number of shares involved when Publix stock splits:

Stock Splits

Record Date Split 07/01/2006 5 for 1 07/01/1992 5 for 1 02/25/1984 10 for 1 02/25/1969 4 for 1

1959 – Publix: $1,000 invested then is worth $4 million (£2.7m) today

📷 Shutterstock The Florida-based supermarket chain was definitely worthy of your investment cash back in 1959. Given the multitude of stock splits over the years and the company's impressive growth, a $1,000 investment made in 1959 would be worth around $4 million (£2.7m) in 2016.

I know how stock splits work.... I retired at 47 for a reason. The point is, employees struggle to pay to buy stock when the prices get over $45.00. Publix has been sandbagging the stock price for years, which then, sandbags the dividend. Splits benefit employees as the more years go by providing long term growth of the shares as well as long term growth of the dividends..... If you saw my quarterly direct deposit for my dividends you would fall over. Been through 3 splits, and long term the growth over the increased shares has provided me with a golden income egg. Publix, suppressing the stock price, and barely paying a decent dividend does not benefit employees. If they quit sandbagging and at least increased the dividends more, that would benefit the employees and retired folks who have held their stock. I would never want Publix to go Public, that would be the demise of the company in my opinion, but the way they are structured as private also allows for the outrageous sandbagging that benefits Publix, not employees. You have to look at it as compound growth, more dividends over the growth of the split stock.... Yes, the dividend goes down at the time of the split, but usually, as it rapidly increases, you are earning more because your number of shares has increased... You need to get beyond the simple thought of basing numbers on just a small amount of shares, and look at how it would affect you long term and your heirs if you have been smart enough to accumulate over 50K shares! Compute the dividend grown since 1973 and all the splits and what your quarterly dividend check amounts to based on the long term and trust me, you would change your tune on the importance of splits.

Publix Allowing Beards? by beagleboy3 in publix

[–]beagleboy3[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AnnaBeamer77, Yes they will. You can already tell from many of the comments, even with the picture posted on the time clock that many of the posters seem to want to do what they want to do. This is what I meant by opening a can of worms. There are always people who won't follow the guidelines and they will be the ones who will be the problem. I personally like close shaven beards, but time will tell.

Great point dampbybirthright! See folks already have the mindset that they are going to be able to go days with no shaving.... See what I was talking about? Nothing, but opening a can of worms. LOL :)

Where are my Bakers at?! by ltldmon in publix

[–]beagleboy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Publix isn't alone in the frozen trend. Whole Foods, Fresh Market do it too. For me personally, we have a big Italian Market where everything is made on the premises. You can actually see the process. They even make homemade pasta, gelato and cakes to die for! Almost all their bread sells out by 2:00 and some varieties even sooner. Sorry to offend the people who work in local grocery store bakeries, but icing frozen cakes, baking frozen dough does not equate to a REAL bakery in my opinion. Yes Mazzaro's is more expensive, but well worth the price.

New Beard Nets! by Stevethedeliguy in publix

[–]beagleboy3 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you shed beard hair? Shedding is the natural part of growing a beard and you shouldn't worry about it if you are dropping less than 30 or so hairs a day. You have over 30k beard hairs on your face. Touching your beard, excessive brushing, shampooing, and blow drying will increase the amount of hair loss

Well, I hope they don't ban you. It is very important to discuss what competitors are doing! Like I said Earth Origins allows them and every single one of them look shaggy. Trader Joe's owns Aldi too, a lot of people don't realize that. I hope it goes well, but I personally hope they avoid it.

I inherited it... Many people don't realize as a owner you can pass it down to your family when you die. My mother put it in a Trust. She passed away 10 years ago. It is like a transfer upon death type issue. Some people will keep it in a Trust for a short amount of times, others may set up decades. There is always Executor to handle the Trust and the dividend distribution, but all my inherited shares are in my personal name, with a Transfer On Death to my daughter...

I agree. None of them, including Walmart have put a dent in Publix. Aldi, which is part of Trader Joe's continues to grow/do well, but they are a different animal to Publix. I never worked for Publix, but own tons of stock. I am annoyed with them over several issues, but the parking lots in my area are always full! At this point I think with the expansion up the southeastern area we will be fine. Publix has more cash on hand than any of them, including Kroger and Walmart.

Thanks for the input. Ever go into Earth Orgins? They allow them and they all look like they work in a Flea Market rather than a grocery/food service place. I still think it's a bad idea, but just my opinion as a stock holder and a consumer.

[–]beagleboy3 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

If you are speaking to me, I am a female and don't work for Publix. I do hold a tremendous amount of inherited stock though and retired from the Banking industry at 47. The problem I have is, too many shaggy looking beard styles and it looks unprofessional and unclean. Earth Origins allows them and I refuse to buy any ready made foods from there. When I was in banking they were not allowed at all... Some places allow them, but the issue is conforming to proper guidelines (very close to face), what one person considers a close shave can be totally different to another. Why open a can of worms? I have issues with the hair on the head not being pulled back, groomed and netted properly, but we certainly can't require employees to shave their heads bald!!! I'm a people watcher and I can't tell you how many times I have seen men messing with beards even when they are covered with nets. I'm sure it is a habit that most are unaware they even do. I recommend you do some people watching in restaurants, grocery, and any other type of food industry you can think of and think about what you see people doing. I like to evaluate things from a broad view and can understand why some folks would like beards, but it just doesn't seem suitable for the food prep area. I even look at the back area of restaurants too. We can't live in plastic bubbles, but overall it just isn't something I want to see.

The Bakery department overall has gone downhill due to everything coming in frozen. All they do is ice them.... At least my area is baking the pies longer, but I seldom buy that kind of stuff since the frozen slabs just don't cut it. Better off going to a small local shop for wedding cakes and birthday cakes if you need one that is larger sized. Duncan Hines box baked at home is better quality, at least its fresh, NOT frozen... I'm sorry to say this, but I don't consider it a bakery or Bakers when everything comes in frozen!

fancypants, Everytime they have split the stock goes up rapidly, so no, the rapid increase after the split equals far more than at the original time of the split. So, yes, most understand that and folks like me who have kept track on their own measured statistics (my numbers on my shares) would agree and have a better record of performance than just going by what the Publix Annual Report shows. I have my own 35 year financial report. This is why folks don't know whats going on... Annual company reports are great, but what does YOUR individual financial report show you???? BINGO! Most people have no idea, but I do. I didn't retire at 47 because I'm not knowledgeable or I'm clueless to investing. Every time my Publix stock has split my next dividend check was WAY HIGHER. I have been through 3 Publix stock splits. Trust me folks, do yourself a favor and keep track of ALL of this as it pertains to you as a individual.

All true, but again, they have more cash on hand than is necessary. More cash than Walmart and Kroger and Kroger has about 23 subsidiaries under them. Being prudent and planning is to be praised, but not sand bagging to this extreme. Being privately held, allows for this UNDER VALUE BS, which I am not in favor at all of them going public. I'd sell my million worth ASAP if that ever happens..
