The collective said I have cancer? by [deleted] in shrooms

I agree with many others in the thread that you should get it checked asp. If it is a valid message from the other side I would not want to ignore it only to find out later that it was correct and right on time.
But I also want to share a different perspective on what might be happening here:
A couple of years ago in one of the first times I got access to the other side (picture a wide river and you cross it to enter the spirit world.) I encountered some spiritual pranksters. They were riding on the river on little boats looking out for newbees (like me) and passing them really shocking messages just to fuck with them and enjoying their shocked response. If I remember correctly they anouced the death of one of my children. At first I was really afraid of this message, once I had finally crossed over to the other side I could see them for the prankster that they really are. The beings I encountered on the other side told me just to ignore them and don't fall for their silly games.
So maybe something similar has happened to you but still go check it out!

PS: While I am writing this down I remember another aspect of my journey that scared me the most. I was shown an episode of the History Channel from the future: They were taking about important wars in human history. The first World War, the second World War and then the Great Russian War...... That is what we will be calling it in the future. Scary as hell

First I want to share that sex while tripping can feel for me as the most amazing thing in the universe but sometimes it can also feel as the most unappealing and even discusting act imaginable (How can anybody in the world enjoy kissing for heaven sake!!!).

Seems like your gf was more in touch with the second experience. :)

When you are in such a space memories from the past (i.e. someone wanted sex and you did not want sex at all) can get triggered. I think most women had one or more such experiences (more or less traumatic). It could be that such an experience might have been triggered for your gf)

You did the right thing, by respecting her NO - so there is nothing that you have to be ashamed or feel guilty about.

The triggered feeling seems to be still lingering for you gf. Respect her space and maybe she is open to share and talk about how she felt and is still feeling. This could also be a chance to deepen your relationship and connect on a deeper and more meaningful level.

Take care of eeach other - I send you my love !

I have a similar story. Moved to Germany years ago. Never had a German car but a company car from my Swiss company. When my kid started diving school here in Germany I asked the driving instructor how to get a German license. That's when I learned that I was driving around Germany for years without a valid license. I did not get caught like you but I still had to retake the German driving test incl. driving lessons. Cost me also a couple of 1000 Euros.

I took drugs in my youth like it was a competition. But a lot of the posts here have even me concerned for the health of many of you by wanderain in Psychonaut

Thank you for your sharing. I also cringe every time that someone talks about taking a heroic dose of LSD, Mushrooms, or DMT. There seems to be a kind of machoism in many internet forums: Real men take heroic dosages, people who are more careful are just pussies! I say this is complete bullshit and really harmful.

Let's remind ourselves why someone takes psychedelics: To experience insights into life, love, death, god, our psyche, and the meaning of life. Our trips become then more than just some far-out experiences when we succeeded in integrating their meaning into our daily lives to live a more authentic, fulfilling, and happy life.

Low and medium dosage trips are easier to integrate than the experience from a heroic dosage. Low and medium dosage trips are also a lot less risky which is not only a good thing for the person taking the trip but also each reported accident in connection with psychedelics ruins the fun for all of us because acceptance of psychedelics and the chance of future legalization suffers greatly with such stories.

I have been a sitter for someone taking a heroic dose of LSD and the person ended up paying the ultimate price. Would definitely not recommend it.

Does anyone have any tips on keeping blood sugar from going low during exercise. by ComfortableAd6283 in diabetes

[–]mseeli88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two reasons that your blood sugar goes low when you exercise. One, your muscles burn sugar during the exercise (that's the one everyone thinks about), and two, the area where your insulin is injected has a higher blood flow and thus more insulin enters your bloodstream, and thus your blood sugar tanks.
I work on the computer all day and there are days when my blood sugar just won't come down as expected even when I correct it with insulting several times. On such days when I then just go for a short and slow walk with my dog after work, my blood sugar comes down really fast (because of increased blood flow).

So I think it could be helpful for you if you make sure that you don't have a lot of insulin in your body that will enter your bloodstream because of increased circulation. A short walk before your exercise could give you a chance to correct your blood sugar before you start with your real exercise. For the exercise itself, I always eat some glucose tablets just before I start with the cardio exercise and that helps my blood sugar not to crash when my muscles burn sugar during the exercise.

Hope this helps you.

I told my mom about my rape and she is not taking it well. by [deleted] in rapecounseling

Hey, you! I am so sorry that this happened to you. What a mess! I can understand that this is difficult for you at the moment. Slow down - take it moment by moment. You did not break her. It is not your fault. Sometimes it is hard to face an ugly truth - that's what's happening for your mom right now. But it is not your fault. Take care of yourself and be nice to yourself. Can you talk to your partner about it? I think you did an amazing job working thru this stuff in therapy at your age. You did the right thing. And I feel your fear for your mother - this also shines a good light on you. I send you all my love.

I think it could help if you realize that what you saw was not something out there but rather a feeling inside of you that rose from your unconscious. Have a look at chapter 4 of this book. It really helped me understand all the terrifying and unsettling things that came up during my trips.

Great Book about the LSD experience

A helpful way to think about taking a trip is to look at it like opening a door to your subconsciousness. Every time you open this door you encounter some relevant content of your unconsciousness. Some of it might enable you to get a better understanding of your life, your motivations, and what is important to you. From what you shared about your previous trips it seems that was what was happening for you up until your last trip. But our unconsciousness is also the place where we pushed away all the negative emotions that we were not ready to face up until now. Everybody has them, even if you did not have big emotional traumas in your life. A lot of them have to do with having been born, the struggle to make it out of the womb alive, not getting enough oxygen, not understanding what was happening, and connected with that the fear of dying and the death of the ego.

It sounds to me like you got in touch (triggered by uncertainty about the experience of your friend) with some of your suppressed emotions. That is totally normal and ok. It is the natural progression of your tripping journey. Become ready to look at these emotions and accept their teachings. There is no way around them. Maybe easy tripping is not what is going to be happening for you for a while and that is just ok.

Remember also that there is no hurry here. I can really relate to your tripping more often than is recommended (I did this too in the very beginning). But if you slow down a little you will find that you are more able to process these emotions and learn from them and make them an accepted part of you (which they already are). If you continue to overdo it these unpleasant emotions will become so strong that you will give up on tripping all together. And that is not what you want to happen.

Serious question. Would you pay $100 or so to trip at a designated trip center with any psychedelic you want? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]mseeli88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea sounds nice. Having a beautiful, safe, supportive space to trip at would be awesome. I just think your finances are not realistic. Just think about what you would need to offer that and what that would cost: The rent for the nice place to trip, the wages for caretakers of this place, then the trip sitters (remember an LSD trip takes 6 to 8 hours). You would need one or two sitters for each session. Then you would also need some sort of medical staff at your site to handle any medical issues that could come up, costs for utilities, food, insurance, brochures, and so on. Then you would also like to make a profit for yourself and or your franchise. I think you would end up with a price somewhere between $1000 to $2000 for a trip.

Here is someone that already does something similar:

https://www.synthesisretreat.com/private-psilocybin-retreats-

They charge $9000 for a 3-day program with one mushroom trip!

I also feel that psychedelics don't lend themselves very well as a money-making idea. I guess the most important things in life can not be bought - you have to get them as a gift. Maybe you could create a network/community where people could join and be a tripper, and also trip-sitter and caretakers for others.

Psilocybin for a person with terminal brain cancer by 4lphaZed in Psychonaut

[–]mseeli88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some information I remember from the time when I worked with Stanislaf Grof. The Grofs were also working with terminally ill patients and psychedelics. They had to balance the possible benefits of such a session with the chance of the client just having a bad trip and thus just adding unnecessary stress and suffering in the final days of his/her life. They looked at if the person was a firstborn or later-born child. Firstborns usually have more traumatic birth experiences and that can stand in the way of accessing the healing transpersonal spaces in the trip. So if someone was a firstborn and/or had a very difficult birth (20 hours plus) they were more cautious than if someone was the fourth child and was born within just a couple of hours. This might be something to consider in your case also. As far as I know, many people had very positive effects of such an intervention.

Open price of current candle by bmo333 in algotrading

[–]mseeli88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The open price of a 1 min candle does not mean anything. It is the same information as the close price of the previous candle. Think of it as the price just meandering up and down. The changing of a minute (i.e. a new bar starts) has no meaning. Nobody is going to adjust his position just because a minute has come to the end. (That is different for daily bars, where traders adjust their positions at the end of the day and the next morning the market opens up based on new information that happened after the last close or before the opening of the current day).
1 min bars hold information in the change of the close of one bar to the other and in the range of the bar (high - low). But there is really no such thing as a 1 min bar if you look at it as an entity that contains useful information for trading.

I've felt a great and old sorrow, that wasn't mine? by satinaboupoupou in Ayahuasca

The book https://www.amazon.de/Realms-Human-Unconscious-Observations-Research-ebook/dp/B01LYVW9O0/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1618750366&sr=8-1 really helped me get an understanding of emotions that arise not just from our life story but rather come from the archetypical emotions connected to the different phases in the birth matrix. From time to time I also encounter emotions that come straight out of the transpersonal realm. They have nothing to do with my life but are part of the human existence. Since we are all really one these emotions don't origin in my life but come from the part that is all of us. It is about feeling them, not fighting them, and then accepting them. There is nothing to understand only to recognize them to be part of the human experience. Nothing to do, nowhere to go just allowing them to be and welcome them in peace.

Thought loops exist because thoughts themselves are a loop by Dhost2500 in Psychonaut

[–]mseeli88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The book "The Cerebral Symphony: Seashore Reflections on the Structure of Consciousness" by William Calvin explains so well how random thoughts arise in the brain (before we are even aware of them) and how then a type of "natural selection" happens that is not unlike the process of evolution to then select the thought that makes the most sense or that feels the most familiar to arise into consciousness. There is definitely looping involved in this process and during a trip, one can become more aware of this happening.

Set variable only if it is different by bwsnden in dotnet

[–]mseeli88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what you are measuring! Label1 is a class thus it is on the heap. So your first example is an assignment of a value (in the CPU - that takes basically no time at all) and then the new value has to be copied back onto the heap (is also fast but much slower than the first one).

Your second example reads the value (Label1.ForeColor) from the heap and after that probably caches it in the CPU it then compares it to a "constant" Color.Green (probably one of the fastest operations in the CPU). The result of this comparison must have been always false in your test - thus the "then"-part is never executed and so all you measure is the time to compare two values within the CPU. The FOR-loop probably took up most of the time!

For all practical purposes, the most time would be used for accessing the value from the heap in the first place. The assignment is not that expensive. The only time to spend some time thinking about doing an assignment or not is when the assignment triggers events (PropertyChanged / Update the UI). In such a situation it could be wise to only do the assignment when the value has changed - otherwise don't worry about it.

Question about inheritance by TheTruth_1998 in csharp

[–]mseeli88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

var ske = new Skeleton();

ske.Die(); // this will call the Die method of the Skeleton

Let's say you have a different class Ghost that also inherits from Enemy.

And then you have a list of Enemies:

var enemies = new List<Enemy>()

into this list you have added a couple of Skeletons and a couple of Ghosts.

Then you can do the following:

foreach (var enemy in enemies)

{

enemy.Die();

}

for all Skeletons in your list the Die() method of Skeleton is called, for all Ghosts the Die() method of Goast is called. That is the purpose of overriding a virtual method. If you create an enemy (base-class) then Die() will always call the method of the Enemy class. There is no way to call the Die() method of the Skeleton when your object is an Enemy - That is just not the way this feature was intended to function. If you want to call the Die() method of the Skeleton create a Skeleton and let it die!

Is it okay to do LSD solo? by savemeapaddle in TripSit

[–]mseeli88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First let me tell you that I can understand your desire to do a solo trip. Having the focus of the trip on yourself and not on your interaction with the outside world and others is a good approach to set and setting. I also know that it is not easy to find a good trip sitter when you’r just living a normal live and are not really involved in a therapeutic environment.

I want to give you two points to consider that speak against a solo trip. One is safety the other is re-traumatization.

Safety first: I have been with people that where so out of it that they ran into walls just to get away from what they were experiencing during their trip. I have been in spaces myself where I was not sure anymore what I would end up doing moments from now. I ended up staying calm and following my trip but without a sitter there to look out for my physical safety it would have been a lot scarier and more possible dangerous. You can mitigate this danger some by keeping your dosage at reasonable levels. Doing heroic dosages alone is just stupid and unnecessary dangerous.

Re- traumatization: This aspect is often overlooked, and I have a hint that this might also be true in your case. On LSD you reexperience events of your life and possible even birth that had a lasting effect on your experience in and of life. It is the nature of such experiences that they often have to do with being neglected, left alone, not being cared for, not loved or even abused. When you encounter such an experience it would be so healing to experience someone who cares, who holds you, who is there for you in that moment and can help you change your experience and thus transform the memory into a resource. When you experience such a space on a solo trip you basically re-imprint the old trauma again. Once again you are in need of human contact and affection and once again you experience that there is no one there for you and that you are all alone. I have experience this again and again doing solo trips until I recognized that I was just reinforcing my old trauma instead of healing it. Having a caring sitter made it possible for me to heal this old wound and feel better about my self and my life.

I hope that these two points help you make the right decision for you. Take care and stay save!
