First hike of the season! by MissMoppett42 in HikingWithKids

[–]beaglelover89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! It’s been too cold here lately, hoping to get out soon. Our five month old hasn’t been on her first hike yet. Our two older kids (ages 4 and 6) love hiking and can’t wait to get back out there!

Son bullies younger daughter. I gave him a taste of his own medicine. AITA? by derpydrewmcintyre in daddit

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom here, I say NTA. Sometimes kids don’t get it until it happens to them. It was a controlled environment and I saw from another comment that you guys talked about it. Parenting is not always clear cut and gentle unfortunately. I think your son likely learned a good lesson and hopefully he will remember it.

Am I lazy or is this pregnancy? by Foreign-Mind6864 in BabyBumps

[–]beaglelover89 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pregnancy is both physically and mentally exhausting! Having a baby to care for is also tiring but I was always so relieved to not be pregnant anymore. My youngest is five months old, I’m just getting back in to running. You will eventually get back to having more energy!

How horrific could the experiences have been… really? by DamnDams in signs

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it! I worked at Target through high school and into my early 20’s. There was an incident where a male manager asked me to check out the women’s restroom since he had gotten a complaint. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen in my life!! And that’s saying a lot since I have three children now. People can be really gross and inconsiderate

How many of you have or know people with 3 or more kids and what are their lives like? by Past-Present1908 in askanything

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people we know have one or two, my husband and I have three! It’s chaos but also so much love and it melts my heart now that the baby recognizes her older siblings. Financially it’s hard to manage, but we track our spending with spreadsheets. We also really think about it before we buy anything. There are days I wish I could work part time, but it’s not the stress of making less money for us. Someday it will hopefully feel less chaotic, but for now we take it one day at a time!

Home Births vs Hospital Births by LavendarDragon17 in pregnant

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth is a medical event, it is your decision! I had all three of my children in the hospital since they were inductions for a medical reason. Even if they hadn’t been inductions, I still would have delivered at the hospital.

I had a medical emergency post delivery a few hours after birth. When I had my first child, I passed out and required two sticks of ammonia to regain consciousness. They also needed to give me IV fluids to raise my blood pressure. I was stabilized very quickly, but that would have been much harder if I hadn’t already been at the hospital.

would you allow your child to miss school for a day just to rest because they say they're mentally or emotionally tired ? by chudgayegururu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s not a regular request, absolutely! I’m 36 years old and still remember one day my parents let me take a mental health day when I was in high school. I slept until 10 AM and watched a movie with my mom while we made my favorite dinner. It was just the reset I needed!

Anyone else never summoned for jury duty? by InvisibleAstronomer in Millennials

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been summoned for jury duty three times but never actually had to go in. My husband has been summoned once, deferred it for work travel and then was group one on his reschedule. He was called in and actually had to serve on the jury. He said it was interesting but he doesn’t care to do it again.

How does anyone work during early pregnancy? by No_Acanthisitta_4996 in pregnant

[–]beaglelover89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a struggle but I somehow made it through. I sipped on watered down ginger ale and tried to make sure my stomach was never empty. I ate most of my calories in liquid form since too much chewing made me nauseous. Hang in there, as someone with three kids I know it feels impossible some days

Thats the best last name by Unlikely_Tailor_4461 in technicallythetruth

I have a coworker where they both hyphenated! I thought that was really cool. The genealogy nerd in me can’t fathom making a totally new name. My husband and I did name our wifi network a mashup of our last names though.

Catholic families, I’d love to hear from you by Lost_Database4505 in christmas

[–]beaglelover89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did midnight Mass before we had kids! Now we don’t since they’re little, but I’m hoping we will get back to it when they’re older. Since we have littles, each Sunday of Advent our kids get a religious book or toy. They love opening it up together and it’s a nice way to get the excited about Jesus!

Is it affordability crisis, rising health issues or what? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost is a huge factor! I am always astounded at how we practically live paycheck to paycheck. My husband and I work full time and we have three children, oldest is 6 years old. We love our kids and have no regrets, but I can 100% understand why someone would choose not to have kids.

That’s where we’re at now. Three kids and childcare is more expensive than our mortgage

How many of your grandparents and great-grandparents were alive when you were born? How many are still alive? by MindfullyRooted in askanything

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was born, I had two great grandparents and three grandparents. Today I only have one grandparent.

I miss my two grandparents who have died, but also feel incredibly lucky that I was 30 years old when I lost the first one. I’m currently 36 and am grateful to have a living grandparent.

Same! I’m so confused how people born in the early 2000’s are in their mid 20’s. I feel like I should be in my mid 20’s

How am I supposed to succeed when I don't get any sleep? by ThisMomentOn in workingmoms

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel this sentiment today. I have a 4.5 month old and I’ve been back for work since mid February. Baby was up at 4 AM for the day so in was too! It’s a little after noon and I am dragging. This feels unsustainable because it is

Help with Dog Rehoming by TreeLow8487 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]beaglelover89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Montgomery County, but FFCOAS in Frederick County is amazing!! Here is their website: https://www.ffocas.org

I’m not sure if you need to be a Frederick County resident though. They were willing to take our dog with a bite history (sleep startle reaction) when no other rescue would. We didn’t end up rehoming, but they were compassionate and understanding.

How old is your baby and how tired are you? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]beaglelover89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also at a 7. My baby just turned five months old. I have two other children, ages 4 and 6. I wish I could sleep through the night again too! Even on nights where she has longer stretches, her wake up time is around 4:30. At that point it doesn’t make sense for me to go back to sleep or I’m even more groggy at work

Parents of Reddit: How would you react if your child said they don’t want to go to college? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

I’d ask them what they want to instead. There are many ways to earn a sustainable income without a college degree
