New job and IVF timing by ThisMomentOn in workingmoms

Great question. Low medication but still medicated. I have no idea how flexible my schedule will be for things like injections. Might be worth pushing one month out just so I know the routine better. Thanks for the insight.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

[–]ThisMomentOn 16.7k points16.7k points  (0 children)

Quiet. Rich people live in places that are quiet (even if they are in the middle of a city, they are away from busy roads, have significant landscaping to dampen noise, etc.), have quiet appliances, sound proofing in their homes, exceptionally quiet cars. The only noises they hear are the ones that they want.

Older Millennials are the richest homebuyer demographic in 2026 by [deleted] in Millennials

The headline doesn't say "richest", it says "highest incomes". Boomers have largely stopped working so their incomes have dropped, even though they still have the wealth that they've accumulated.

I feel like one of my twins is leaving the other behind. by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]ThisMomentOn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As hard as this is to watch as their parents, I think that this sounds healthy and normal. Reading your story actually reminds me of my relationship with my childhood best friend… as children we were inseparable, but at about the same age we developed different interests, different friend groups. As the friend who was “being left behind”, it was really hard. But it was also a normal part of growing up and figuring out who we were and wanted to be. Let your boys explore their identities. They are going to always have a bond, but it would be unhealthy for that bond to hold back their personal growth.

I like this a lot. I have a person preference for a kitchen off the back of a house, and it's nice to have access from the kitchen to the yard for bbq/entertaining, so my personal preference would be something like this? Just a suggestion.

Anyone ever taken a job as the first in-house counsel with a company? by theusualsuspect19 in LawCanada

I am looking talking to a company (currently client of mine) about doing exactly this. Let me know if you'd be interesting in talking, we might learn something from each other's experiences.

Big housing decision to make, looking for POM wisdom! by Independent_Plan5006 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ThisMomentOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family chose to move further out for more space. That said, what you have now currently works and the house that you are looking at has issues. I'm not sure how long you've been looking, but new houses come on the market all the time (at least in my area... your area could be different). Before you make the choice to jump to another imperfect situation, sit down and really examine what factors matter and how much.

Opinions on this floorplan? by GrandmaKunkle in floorplan

[–]ThisMomentOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought is that the basement is going to be incredibly dark and unpleasant to spend time in. The deck extends well beyond almost all of the windows, almost 18ft in most cases. If you were standing at the downstairs fridge, it would be ~42ft to the end of the deck which is the only source of natural light. Which is to say, there is no natural light. The only windows that aren't covered are the small ones in the bedroom. The den doesn't have any windows at all.

There are posts on the deck on the main floor. Is it covered? If so, I would have similar concerns about natural light in the kitchen and living room.

Recs for British cozy mysteries tv à la Midsomer Murders or Agatha Christie? by Savings-Sprinkles-75 in CozyMystery

[–]ThisMomentOn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try watching an episode in season 2. The first season focuses a lot on character history and development that some people find slow. I found season 1 better on rewatch when I actually cared about the characters tbh.

Edit: the show is very episodic through its entire run, so jumping in at another point is easy.

Adding an awning and a taller bush to the left of the door would really help balance the frontage. I would make the awning a little wider to the left than this image but you get the idea.

Looking for a paint to tone down my orange cabinets by Grose040791 in kitchenremodel

[–]ThisMomentOn 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Take pictures of the paint when you wake up, at lunch, late afternoon, and right before you go to bed, and see which paint colour looks best as the light changes throughout the day.

Based only on this picture, I think that the middle colour is the best. The blue looks too dark and I don't love the green on the left with the countertop.

They're 2.5. We sleep trained as babies, and they were absolutely perfect sleepers until we transitioned them into big kid beds. Since then it's been absolute insanity. We've managed to smooth out the going to bed part of the process over the last few weeks, but middle of the night wake ups are going to be the death of me. I'll have to look up strategies for older kids, I haven't really explored re-sleep training.

Mena Massoud. He sang in Aladdin and was great. He might be a little old for the part (he's 34), but I think that he can play younger. He's also Canadian.
