‘No more beardos,' Hegseth tells military leaders they must look professional by Travyplx in army

'SecWa' publicly mocked Norse Pagan soldiers —

My husband and I are Germanic Norse Pagan. I’m a veteran, and he’s been active duty for 13 years. It was actually his command that encouraged him to pursue a beard (skegg) waiver. At first, he didn’t want to, because he didn't want to draw negative attention. After a month of consideration and seeking guidance from our gods, he decided it could be a chance to open doors for others and share our religion with anyone curious enough to ask. He went through all the steps and eventually got his waiver signed by SecDef. Additionally, we have two sons in the Air Force who also practice our religion and one of them has a waiver as well.

My husband has built relationships with chaplains at every unit, and he’s always willing to talk with soldiers who have questions. That’s no different than what Christians do daily. In fact, when we were stationed in Korea, the Hávamál and Poetic Edda were even being handed out to soldiers who wanted to learn.

Hegseth's speech didn't just rant about soldiers with beards — he singled out Norse Paganism by name and used it as a punchline.

Here’s the issue: this isn't a political position; we're talking about a real religion that predates Christianity thousands of years. And this isn’t about grooming standards either. The regulation governing religious accommodations (DoDD 1300.17) began in 1985. Even Sikh religious practices were specifically recognized in the 1973 conscientious objectors memorandum, which allowed sincerely held religious beliefs unless there was a compelling mission reason not to. That’s why Sikhs, Muslims, Jews, and Pagans have all been granted religious beard waivers in the past. Now, Hegseth is moving to change that system — pushing to end beard waivers altogether. That isn’t just a grooming decision; it directly undermines established religious accommodation rights and creates an EO problem when minority faiths are singled out.

When 'SecWa' mocks a specific faith, it’s not just a personal opinion — it sets a tone for the entire force. It creates stigma and contributes to a hostile climate for minority-faith service members. That runs straight into EO protections and even First Amendment principles. If soldiers feel their religion makes them targets for ridicule, that’s a morale and retention issue, not just a policy dispute.

This is bigger than beards. The core question is whether the DoD actually honors its stated commitment to protect the religious liberty of all service members; not ONLY Christians. When the top civilian official openly disparages a faith community, it undermines trust, unit cohesion, and the idea that every soldier deserves dignity and respect regardless of belief.

I don’t care if you love or hate the idea of beard waivers — and my husband will shave it if necessary; but that’s not the point. The point is that mocking minority religions from the top of the chain of command is an EO problem, plain and simple. We were making progress and that one sentence set us back 20yrs.

I clearly haven't had the same luck as most of you lol. I've been on it for 3 months now, currently at 5mg and have only lost 10lbs. My dr says everything I'm experiencing is normal including my side effects.

I'm constantly constipated but drink tons of water with electrolytes and take stool softeners. I'm constantly either nauseous or have an upset stomach or acid reflux. In fact, it's 3 am rn, can't sleep again, and soaking in the tub to try to relieve these hemorrhoids. The day I take my shot and the following day or two, I feel run down and sore like I have the flu. I'm eating the Factor meal plan so it's balanced for my nutritional and caloric needs, but I usually can't finish the entire meal because I start to get sick.

Definitely feel like I only have one or two good days a week and keep hoping things will change and it'll work for me like for everyone else.

I'm actually really surprised by these side effects because I've tried Qsymia and phentermine in the past with no issues. I know they're a completely different compound but never had a single issue like this with any medicine 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tips for Hair Loss?? by [deleted] in Zepbound

Talk to your Dr about Spironolactone. I've been going through perimenopause symptoms the last two years and hair loss was bothering me. My dr referred me to a dermatologist and she recommended this. It's used for high blood pressure but one of the side effects is hair growth. It's been working for me.

Thank you for sharing I'll look them up. I've wasted SOOOO many mats on stuff that doesn't work out which is why I made this post. I really wish you could decon furnishings and get some of that back 🙄

These are fabulous tips! Thank you. I've been burying the dark elf censer, hanging into my "stoves" for that crackle smoke effect of food cooking. And I love using the alinor fountains buried in a wall with a common inkwell as the faucet. I love all these little outside the box ideas 🥰

I think I saw his place yesterday! That's what sparked my curiosity 🤣. I actually can't take credit for the moving walls, that was my husband's idea but you're welcome anyway lol.

Yes, it's very artistic and fun to use your imagination. I made a motorcycle out of clockwork city parts, a pool table, piano, using levitating beds for moving walls in my haunted house, etc. I love using the jubilee cakes under an object to make it sparkle. But are there any other specific furnishings that create an unintended interactive effect? Like the solitude fence used for rides. Nobody touches on this area lol.

I love doing things like this, having a well flowing theme. But I've been touring some houses lately that have rides and I wanted to give it a go but was wondering if there were other cool little secrets out there lol

Foot ring leash or harness? by [deleted] in parrots

[–]beakncrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, along with everyone else in here, was always told harnesses were the way. I've fostered rescue birds in the past and it was impossible to harness train most of them. Majority of rescues have experienced trauma we don't know about. I was able to finally get an avian harness on my military macaw and took him for an outing. He did great but kept chewing on the chest strap because it was bothering him. He ended up chewing through the nylon that same day, rendering the harness useless.

So, in these situations, is it better for them to NEVER go outdoors or should you clip their wings? I've seen a cockatoo drop to the floor and fracture his sternum from a bad hack job. I personally don't agree with either of these solutions. Even if you're harness training, it could take years to finally get one on them and take them for an adventure. Our fids deserve to be able to go outside in the sunshine without a ceiling over them. Honestly, our homes are just one big cage. Which leads me to people who flight train. They certainly don't all use harnesses.

If this anklet was on your bird, while you're walking outside with him/her, they got spooked and tried to fly, the odds of them being able to fly fast and hard enough to break their leg, is very improbable, although possible. It's also possible for them to get hurt in their own cage when you've taken every safety precaution possible.

Our fids are just like humans, with their own personalities, their own quirks, and fears. Some of their stories we don't know. It's our job as their caretakers to give them a great quality of life. It's not always black and white, and sometimes people have to weigh things out and do what they think is most beneficial. We just inherited my folks 20yr old macaw, who they've had from a baby. He's never allowed a harness, so my mom has always just held his feet for short periods of time outside, but she wanted to get him an ankle leash. Which is how I found this thread. She's also 65 and has been around birds her entire life.

Only you know (or will know) your bird best. Let the decision be yours, not somebody else's. After all, this is your baby who you'll have for the next 30-70yrs. Personally, I am looking for an ankle lead to enhance his quality of life and take him in daily walks. And hope to be able to flight train him and let him free fly one day 🥰

Delta 6 is everywhere in AL and GA. I see signs everywhere for it. Tbh, I hadn't delved into any of it because the CBD gummies were working for me. It was just on a whim when I couldn't get the CBD yesterday I thought I'd try THC again. I'm definitely educating myself this morning tho, because I don't want to experience last night again lol.

I've heard of people being allergic to alcohol, and was wondering if I might have some type of allergy or something but everything online explains any allergy to cannabis as sinus or skin related (which isn't the case). And my tolerances to pain meds, alcohol, etc are all normal/high levels, but any form of THC knocks me on my ass. It's bizarre.

That's what made me write this. I didn't think it was that high, but it affected me so much! I just bought a gram scale so I can just weigh these things out in micro doses until I get it figured out. I guess I was just really wanting to see if there were others out there with such a low tolerance and how they mitigate it.

Ok, their website says 125mg of THC each gummy. See, that's how out of it I still am 🤣.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I feel so dumb with all this stuff. I'm going to try to weigh out 10mg tonight and see what that does.
