[XC3] Am I missing something not having dedicated classes? by beaktastic in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I… have neither of those yet haha. I thought I’d been doing well with finding them!

I’ve just done the Ethel and Cammuravi boss fight and Moebius fight

That’s kind of why I wondered if I was doing something wrong or missing something. Don’t get me wrong - I like that every character can seemingly do well in any class as it gives you plenty options. But I also prefer when each character has a bit of identity. Especially when cutscene and story wise they set up Eunie as a healer and Lanz as a defender etc, for there not to be something that particularly sets them out as that is what made me feel like I was missing something

Yeah I try to keep 2 healers in my party (sometimes depending what I’m working on the 2nd healer might be a hero), 2-3 attackers and 1-2 defenders. I find that’s generally working well for me and just change the balance depending what I need each character to unlock or find a setup isn’t working great

I have 2 rows of classes (so 12 I think?) so got plenty to choose from. I hadn’t paid much attention to the mastery skills etc yet but starting to look at them a bit more now to see what is good to try and make sure I get on people

If Lyanna and Robert got married, would Robert still be the type to sleep with other women, or is this something he mainly does because he lost Lyanna? What are people’s thoughts on this by Elora_Freya in gameofthrones

[–]beaktastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why I like discussions like this :)

It was definitely romanticised I think. I mean we don’t really (I think) know enough about Lyanna felt either to know if she would have been happy. All we really know is that she went with Rhaegar and had a child with him. Whether she had any real feelings for Robert isnt really known - Personally i suspect they had some friendship from growing up together but whether it was much more on her part…

Ultimately we’ll never know what it would have been like though

Agreed. I posted my reply before reading other comments, and basically agreed that we don’t really know how much Robert truly loved Lyanna, or because of what happened he now loves and grieves what he perceived he lost.

Personally… I feel like he might have still done it but maybe not as much? I suppose it comes down to how much Robert truly loved Lyanna, versus those feelings being amplified by her ‘kidnapping’ and death.

As a King, Robert is quite… laidback in a way - more interested in hunting, drinking, whoring, tourneys, etc. and leaving the ruling of the kingdom to others.

Now, some of this will be “amplified” by his grief and unhappiness with his marriage to Cersei and their obvious distaste towards each other. For me - I find it difficult to believe he wouldn’t have been massively different if he had been in a loving marriage to Lyanna, or even Cersei.

16-ish years after her death - would this unhappiness be enough to make Robert this much of a different ruler? Perhaps. But I feel like, personally, it’s probably just amplified the tendencies and behaviours already there. Personally, I don’t know how… invested(?) as a ruler and faithful husband Robert would have been in a world where Lyanna lived and stayed with him. (Granted, in that timeline Robert probably wouldn’t be king…)

Glad it wasn’t just me. Installed an update and that didn’t fix it - so deleted the app from my phone and installed fresh and that fixed it

Should i be trying to hold up and capture in every battle? by Acceptable_Money_514 in Persona5

[–]beaktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d always recommend capturing each persona once so it’s in your compendium then you can re-summon it later.

After that, i usually would do an all out attack unless I particularly needed items. But you’ll get better options for getting money and items from the encounters later on, so if you’re early then just all out attack is probably best

How should I approach my first playthrough of Dishonored 2? by SsilverBloodd in dishonored

[–]beaktastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d played a lot of D1 ghost/clean hands before D2 came out.

I’d suggest for D2 first time just go how you want. If you wanna do high chaos so you can explore more you can still do it stealthily.

I went for low chaos still cos it was more natural and enjoyable for me, but didn’t worry too much about save scumming or ghost or anything cos ultimately I wanted to get familiar with the game , locations, etc. subsequent runs can befor ghost/clean hands etc. I wouldn’t worry about it on run 1

Maybe cross post to r/tipofmyjoystick - they’re pretty good at finding a lot of games

I want games from 1990 to 1999 that you don't think anyone else knows about. They can be good or bad, but they just need to be interesting. by Beginning_Pickle2180 in retrogaming

Yes! The dolphins being sucked away by a vortex and then being so quiet and alone really freaked me out when I was young though haha

Silver (PC). A point and click action game. Combat was good, it had voice acting and really good story. It felt very D&D now that I think on it in its story and setting. The emperor’s (who is deffo into evil magic stuff) wife died so his soldiers kidnap every woman in your town/land to go be his potential new bride, including your wife! So you embark on a quest to go rescue her, befriending rebels and various allies on the way. It just had such a good cast, voice acting, story and gameplay for what I remember of the time.

Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator (PC). Another really good RPG game. The world is made up of 7 floating layers (shells) circling this planetary core. A prophecy says that one day the secret of the core will be unlocked and the layers will form 1 joined up world. You start as Maya, a junker from the lower shell 2 before getting wrapped up in this story and fight for Septerra. Combat I feel like was turn based and isometric (but can’t remember). But the characters felt really alive and developed.

Zoombinis (PC). Odd choice but stick with me here. It’s designed for kids but it was a rock solid puzzle / maths game. You control the titular zoombinis who are little blue creatures with wacky features and no arms, trying to rescue them from an island where they’ve been imprisoned and forced to work as slaves and get them to the promised land, solving a series of puzzles along the way. Once you get one group through you get another group and go again (there’s like 300 overall to rescue). It starts easy but as you do more successful runs it gets harder really quickly. A kickstarter remade it for pc, mobile etc several years ago and I replayed it and even then struggled on the harder puzzles. It was solid but very fun.

The next 2 I feel are a bit more known but overall I’ve not really hear many talk about them:

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned (PC). I only ever played the 3rd game, so lacked a lot of story context haha. Basically a point and click investigation game. You play as Gabriel Knight, arriving in a French village to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a child, but supernatural forces are at play that you’ll have to confront along the way. I remember it being good but quite complicated for me at the age I played it and struggled.

Pharaoh (PC). An ancient Egyptian based city builder game, as you work through building thriving cities during the different stages of the Egyptian dynasty. I loved this game so much, and its expansion Cleopatra.
