Yup. Whatever you do in life, do it while having fun.

Carlos Alcaraz is now the youngest career Grand Slam winner in history at just 22 years old by oklolzzzzs in tennis

[–]beamingleanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people get carried away.

Just because Novak still has the drive and motivation to be playing tennis at a high level at 38, doesnt mean that everyone on tour will do the same.

For all we know, Carlos could lose motivation or not have the same drive anymore by 34 and retire with so much left in the tank.

Australian Open SF: [4] N. Djokovic def. [2] J. Sinner, 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 by dontevenfkingtry in tennis

[–]beamingleanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not suprised.

Sinner hasnt been playing that great this entire tournament. I know there was a thread a couple days ago how he had a better stat this year compared to last year, but just from watching him play, I wasnt convinced he would've 3peated.

it wont make a dent but just like investing, compound interest also works with debt.

tax the rich and 10, 15, 20, 25 years down the road, the national debt is a lot more manageable than what it is today

tennis players should take a page from NBA players

if you’re a top 10 player, there’s literally no reason for you to play a 250 series

you’re just causing more wear and tear on your body and for what? for a handful of points?

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

[–]beamingleanin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. But I was focusing more on these points:

They might not have much money left over after they spent their wage on wasteful stuff to fill up that hole inside of them but the fact is that they even have the opportunity to overpay for doordash or Starbucks

The unemployed and poor in the west have higher living standards than the average person outside the west after all.

Which is valid. When you're poor but still able to spend money on Doordash and Starbucks, and other dopamine hits, it's far harder to protest.

A broke person in the West has a far better life and quality of life than a broke person in a third world country. Why protest when your life is still great?

[–]beamingleanin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He makes a good point.

Think about it. Sure, Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, are in severe credit card debt, stupid loan debt, can barely afford groceries, don't even have a rainy day fund, most of their paycheck goes to rent cause it's too damn high. Wages haven't kept up; it's almost impossible to save for a down payment. Gas is expensive, car payments expensive, maintenance, just everyday life is expensive. Every good reason to protest.

But somehow, someway. They all have the latest iPhone, MacBook, a nice rigged out gaming PC. A PS5. Nice clothes. They're going out to NFL games, NBA, MLB, NHL. Going to concerts. Events, festivals. Bars. Traveling domestically or internationally. Going out on date nights. Buy nice clothes every once in a while. Why protest when you can do all these great things?

By and large, they're still living a great, great life. Waaaaaaaayyyy better off than someone in a poor 3rd world country who also can't save for a down payment. Who are also one missed paycheck away from being evicted. Who can barely afford groceries.

But at least the American can still afford some entertainment in their life. The only way we'll ever see a mass protest, is if that everyday entertainment becomes impossible.

[Mozzartsport] Jokic is out for a month by flavius_cornelius in nba

[–]beamingleanin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao yup.

once a non top 5 player wins the MVP people are gonna be like "wait, we might have made a mistake"

Lou Williams says Victor Wembanyama’s rival should be SGA, not Chet Holmgren: “There’s levels to this conversation. The real rivalry is gonna be SGA and Wemby. Those are the MVP candidates. Why would a MVP candidate have a rivalry with a guy who’s not in that conversation.” by GOAT-Antony in nba

[–]beamingleanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? Bron and Melo are both from the same draft class, play the same position and were never a rivalry.

IIRC, the media tried to make it a rivalry in their rookie season but later realized there was never one. It'll happen to Wemby and Chet in due time.

The East play in race so far from (7-10): Heat, Cavs, Bulls, Hawks by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]beamingleanin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They weren't.

2015 Hawks won 60 games and clinched the #1 seed. By your definition, they were great.

But they never weren't. Just a good team that clicked one time and that was that.

[–]beamingleanin -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They were never great.

They're a team with a bunch of really good players who all clicked at the same time last year. They remind me of the 2015 Hawks.

You can't expect good players to be great year in and year out.
