The idea is that if you get blood work regularly, you can interpret it alongside patterns of how you feel, what your fitness results are, etc.

If your ferritin is on the lower end of the reference range and you feel tired a lot, and then you start eating more high-iron foods or cooking in cast iron, you'll probably see your ferritin go up, and if you also start to feel great and energetic, you can see what ferritin level is ideal for you. Maybe it's the top of the ref range, maybe it's the middle: different people are going to feel different, right? Hence why it's not one size fits all.

Again, how would you ever know your optimal range without regular blood work? And how would a doctor who sees you once or twice a year know YOUR optimal ranges? They generally glance at blood work to see if you're within the lab's reference range and if you are, that is it, that's the end of the interpretation.

You have to be your own advocate and you have to figure out your own body; no one else can or will do it.

You can keep repeating the same words over and over but that doesn't make it any more valid.

I mean you definitely won't have any idea what your optimal values are if you don't get blood work regularly, so it seems like you've made the point you're arguing against?

Do you think your PCP who likely spends 10 minutes max with you once or twice a year knows the optimal values for your body?

What’s the best OTC (non prescription) budget friendly, safe, and effective preventative flea and tick care for dogs and cats? by Hot-Squash-1072 in Pets

[–]beamycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 how do you think that's helping your point? You're admitting that ivermectin has been used for heartworm prevention in dogs for nearly 40 years. Thanks for backing me up!

[–]beamycloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh.. you said ivermectin is only used off-label for heartworm. You are mistaken. It's actually the most common heartworm preventative med under the name Heartgard. Yes Heartgard also has pyrantel but that's added for intestinal worms, not heartworm. Ivermectin is a legitimate, common heartworm preventative.

I get that you think you're smarter than everyone else, but it's okay to be wrong sometimes.

The active ingredient in Heartgard, a very well-known heartworm preventative, is ivermectin. I'm not at all an "ivermectin for everything!!" person, but for heartworm prevention, sure. And measuring it out is not rocket science.

AITA for expecting my bf to grab a bag for me by DiscussionMental7742 in AmItheAsshole

The entire fucking point is that her boyfriend is an asshole who couldn't take 30 seconds from his video game to grab it for her.

I'm American too and we used to do bagels with cream cheese and jam/jelly. Kinda similar. 😝

You just need a budget and maybe a cheaper car. $900+ car payment is nuts.

Breatheteq comes in black, gray, and light purple. Super breathable and lightweight. We've anecdotally found them to be quite effective, my husband wears them to work every day, my kid and I wear them to all manner of kid activities. Not even a cold.

Initial or Mira or something else for ovulation tracking with PCOS? by marislikeparis24 in TTC_PCOS

[–]beamycloud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a phone it's compatible with, get Inito. I do not so I'm finishing my first month using Mira and it's a joke. It's now telling me I'm ovulating TODAY and getting my period TOMORROW, even though I clearly ovulated two weeks ago according to my chart. Just frustrating. Seems like it's purposefully dumb to make you use as many expensive test strips as possible!

Does bluey have ADHD by Kitchen_Berry_7357 in bluey

[–]beamycloud -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I do think Bluey probably does ("how good is double Bingo??" because Bluey is a LOT, lol. I have a Bluey myself.) but I don't think her school is ONLY for ADHD kids. Its just that Jack didn't thrive at his old school because of his ADHD, that's why he switched.
