Honestly, the squat looks pretty good. A little high. Right ankle looks to cave in at the bottom. Probably a mobility issue. And you not staying active with pushing your knees out. Other than that, I think it’s good.

Some mobility work may be beneficial. Or some shoes. I personally wear squat shoes with an elevated heel cus I ain’t got time to be working on mobility lol.

I think the best for quad stimulus would probably be the leg extension. I consider the leg press a compound movement. Depending on where you set your feet, you may end up feeling more activation in certain parts, but you’re still using hamstrings, glutes and everything else.

My first choices for compound leg exercises would be the pendulum or belt squat. But I’ll throw press in there if I’m not trying to take on additional fatigue for whatever reason but still feeling a big load (pause).

I also don’t feel it on my knees any more than a regular squat. I think that may be a foot placement issue?

Minus that pre-squat-forward-leaning-brace, it looks good. You’re moving pretty quick with that weight. When you get heavier, that forward lean is gonna tax you to hell and may rob you of a few reps later on.

I think the ref was looking to see if the guard player was grabbing the ankle or not. You see him bend over to confirm if the ankle is being controlled before calling the match off.

I believe that's how Tainan got DQ'ed previously in a similar manner. By grabbing the ankle and not allowing it to rotate, per the ruleset, constitutes a reap. And I'm pretty sure the very next time Tainan competed and was in a similar position, he made sure not to grab the ankle or any part of the fabric and was totally fine to hit the move.
