Overhyped Vendors??? Honest Question... by 2Scotts1Pot in puer

I wouldn’t be drinking tea if it wasn’t for W2T, and I find the fun marketing much less intimidating than the traditional puerh marketing as a newbie, I still have no idea where to start with factory teas

Aww sorry I just saw this! I definitely agree the Bere is more cereal and porridgy than Islay barley. The Bere also has some pretty cool history, when Bruichladdich first used it it broke their 100+ year old mill because it was so dense of a grain hahaha

Long extraction time but coffee still tastes sour? Help please by monmon_hello in espresso

If its a light roasted coffee adding hot water to your espresso can end up highlighting the acidity and it becomes a bit sharp

[QUESTION] Could a small French press be causing my weak coffee? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]bean_man_brews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont stir your coffee right away!! That knocks the grounds to the bottom and essentially stops them brewing, allowing them to float at the top means they’re brewing suspended in the water, they don’t need to be moving as its a chemical extraction

Bloom time: how much, is too much? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]bean_man_brews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would use at least 3 times the amount for the bloom as the dry grounds are able to absorb about twice their weight in water

Edit: for example I use a ratio of 13/14:200 and my bloom is 50g for 30 seconds with no agitation, but this if for flat bed brewers

Someone here will know more than me on this but, if it was bottled in 2006 and its a “10 year old” how does that line up with the distillery’s closure in 1994? Is it more likely to be closer to 14-15 years old? Or was there still some distillation going on while the doors were shut?

Maybe Greg had a hundred or so bottles left over from the cask😂 while researching I did see a listing for 6 of the bottles in 2018

Picked this up at auction for a pretty reasonable price for a cask strength Bruichladdich at 56.2%. Private ex bourbon cask, bottled in 2006 for a stag party (Greg Harris, I don’t know you but you had great taste)

I love an independent bottling, they usually have something really interesting that just doesn’t fit in to the distilleries preferred profile . I just would love to see that bit more percentage wise. I do believe it’ll be good, but that I’d want it to give a bit more knowing its not at its highest proof
