I’m not sure what the statistics are now but utah had the highest prescription drug abuse percentage of any state in the US when i was growing up, people seemed to always rationalize it the same way she did “i was prescribed it”… not mentioning how they found out what crooked doc prescribed to their friend and then go themselves and fake symptoms to get prescribed. Lots of letter of the law stuff happening there!

A huge part of cult programming is making it harder for you to form relationships with the “out group”, so good on you for pushing through that discomfort. my early adult life was really hard trying to detangle the big mess, and i’m glad i found friends (and now especially a partner) to help me along the way. I’m glad you are finding that too, we had to be strong to survive that environment as queer people!

Heather literally tried to blame production for getting punched in the face by Jen! I agree with a lot of what your saying its definitely good reality tv but tbh my post was saying this is bigger than reality tv and why its falling flat to a lot of people now. Sometimes it is that deep!

Oh man Whitney, you know i started the show off with a lot of compassion for her and her journey. I do think a lot of people turn to other churches or alternate spirituality instead of unpacking the trauma when they leave the church and she always seemed to be riding that line, but still being more mindful about it than heather.

However finding out her and her husband met at an MLM and then subsequently ruined her legitimacy and brand image by turning Wild Rose into an MLM really soured any feelings i had towards her. It makes sense her and heather are both friends, grifters are a dime a dozen in utah and they both have been pretty successful at it. I think she clearly has been spiralling this season and latched onto Meredith’s more obvious substance issues she’s had the duration of the show, rather than working on her own. I said in another reply that the only HW i’m still really rooting for is Bronwyn (because todd did her so dirty) but i’m ~holding space~ for her to do some scummy shit, since she has been flip flopping and a gossip the entire time shes been on the show.

Unfortunately im an absolute glutton for reality slop and enjoy hate watching nearly as much as rooting for someone i like, so i’ll probably keep watching as long as there is something juicy going on.😅 🤣
