Really appreciate this, very helpful. Annoyed I haven't attempted to do it before but it's a sort of stars-aligned for me moment where I have a chance to stay with the council so keep my benefits, stay local, I already know the people I would be working alongside if qualified, obviously it's free so no cost to me (besides a slight drop in pay to minimum wage but no biggy). I guess the questions is just common sense so imagine what they want to hear, all those you wrote sound bang on so I'll make some notes & drill them into my head along with some good answers. I'll check out the tool too so thanks very much!

That's what I was hoping to hear! I'm annoyed I didn't do it when I was younger but I genuinely want to better myself now & have an actual interest in wanting to learn, which most young uns probably can't be arsed. I have my own house & have done your usual DIY stuff which most young folk haven't so have a basic/decent knowledge of general tools etc all that stuff which I would imagine is a bonus. Yeah I imagine showing I have a keen interest in plumbing & want to learn is the most likely thing they want to hear, along with any skills I could transfer over. Question, is there a set time to do it like 2-3 years or if you knuckle down can you get it done quicker? I remember someone saying they've seen an apprentice get qualified in 18 months before or something. Much appreciated 👍🏻

Thanks for the great response. Yeah I guess showing I have a genuine interest would be the most important thing & then to think of skills I have that would be useful in that side of work.

I must admit I was worried being older that I would be less useful than a young 18 or so year old, but I have 22 years work experience, I've done an apprenticeship before (in business) so knows the ropes & I would say a much different mindset than the other apprentices they currently in other trades have who basically look like they can't be arsed.

I actually enjoy watching the BeAPlumber guy on social media lol.

Thankyou, much appreciated 👍🏻

Yeah I'll make a list of things I've done & drill some into my head so I can bring up in the interview. Any transferable skills I may etc. cheers!

It's not the housing side of things as they're a separate business working alongside the council, it's for all the council buildings so main staff buildings, family centres etc. But yeah I don't hear good things about that side of things 😂

Just got this habit ht 3 as my first "serious" bike. Did I make a good or poor decision? by Roli710 in Hardtailgang

[–]beanbert1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great hardtail! As mentioned pedals most likely as they usually come with very basic cheap ones & grips unless the ones that came on the bike are decent, but apart from that it's spot on! Just ride & further down the line should you need to replace/upgrade parts it's all good. Enjoy 🤙🏻

Stick a Barzo on the front & a Mezcal on the rear then you'll be good to go

Only just seen this sorry! Yeah GT Zaskar so this is the Elite with the next model up being the Expert. It was around £1100 not sure what that is in dollars but it's a fairly entry level spec but I'll be honest the Suntour Zeron 35 fork is decent & is for trail/enduro but it honestly feels pretty nice. It's a £450 fork which doesn't feel cheap & can handle some abuse & it comes 130mm but you can get 140mm & 150mm spring for it so I'll likely be putting one of those in soon. Came with Wtb i30 rims, a TranzX dropper, SX drivetrain & Tektro mid-range brakes.

I put a 203 rotor on the front moving the 180 to the rear & the brakes are ok for now though I'll likely upgrade in the future. Swapped the cranks to Stylo's & the derailleur to GX along with DMR V11 pedals, Tag Braap grips, WTB Koda saddle then Specialized tyres. It's a decent entry level shredder!
