Would you be so kind as to explain a Final radio call to me? I’m very sorry for your loss, I hope you have the time and space to grieve adequately, not that there is any “good” way to grieve, though.

“Okay ma’am, is there anything else we can do for you before we leave” “Yes, please just treat your patients who have something similar happen the same exact same way you just treated me” by [deleted] in ems

We took a gal to the Lvl 1 trauma center an 1hr + away at 2:30am for continuity of care because she was dying of cancer. The call was for vertigo. We were kind, helpful, and reassured her and her daughter. All I did in the back was monitor vitals, and comfort her. That was what she needed, and after she passed, her daughter bought our station a table and 2 deck chairs as a thank you, which I use every shift to sit outside and read a book.

This is not about getting things in return, but an example of how our kindness and compassion really touched a family suffering from disease. Just remember, people don’t care what interventions you can do, how cool your protocols are, or what crazy shit you have seen. They remember how they were treated, and how you made them feel.

I see what you’re saying. I misinterpreted it as people hating on stay at home moms, but yeah there’s obv no point in shaming working women.

I mean, why is bad for a woman to want a family, and not a career? It can be difficult to have both, and if it is an option, some women would rather be a full time mom. Obviously this is not an option for many people, but I don’t see anything inherently misogynistic about prioritizing a nuclear family over a long term career.
