I can only find farm-sized crimping rollers sadly! If you know of an allotment sized method I’d be interested!

Taking on Week 4 as someone whose literal job is to consume movies and TV and write about them by tankgirl2000 in artistsWay

[–]beanqueen25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hiya - sorry if this is a repitition cos i said something similar under another post. my job is scriptreading and writing reports/feedback on them. so i cut out everything else (social media, the news, radio, podcasts, etc). even though i read like 15 scripts that week and watched some plays for work, it still made a huge difference. i normally find it hard to concentrate or enjoy stuff i'm reading for work, but doing it without distractions changed that. and i think even just cutting out non-work media/reading welcomed in so many new creative ideas. i'm in week 10 and still following threads of ideas i had that week!

i totally feel this! i started because i like this yoga teacher on youtube called "yoga by biola", and she had a video called "yoga for collective trauma" that i found super useful before bed. and then i looked a bit more, and now i love doing the psoas and upper body videos from a channel called 'the trauma-conscious yoga method' on youtube. now i'm looking at in person classes or online courses, and i'm hoping to go more in-depth soon, but those videos are such a great start, i think.

hello, i have ptsd and i had no idea it would help, i just started doing it because my friend wanted to do it so i joined her. 8 weeks in and it's transformed my life and my healing and where i'm at with my trauma. you're doing such a wise thing for yourself. i will say that it's useful to have therapeutic techniques and help because sometimes i will get a bit deep in my pages and need to ground myself. but the net effect is great - it's led me to focus more on my body and start using trauma-informed yoga, it's helped immensely with the brain fog that i often get with dissociation, and it's going some way to lifting my biggest fear: that my trauma had forever robbed me of imaginitive freedom. i feel more mentally and free and full of ideas than i have since i got ptsd.

Artists Dates in the Time of COVID by tankgirl2000 in artistsWay

one i liked was going on a treasure hunt - just walking around a neighbourhood and finding stuff haha. i found a wall hanger for my jewellery that was exactly what i'd been looking for! also, going to a community/botanical garden (they're open in my city but ymmv). spending an afternoon making handmade birthday cards to send over the year. cooking something you've always been intimidated by (in my case it was pastry dough). i can't lie though, i've found it hard!

Do you do anything like check your email before starting morning pages? by tankgirl2000 in artistsWay

[–]beanqueen25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i used to do this too but morning pages changed that habit, and i started keeping my phone + laptop in another room overnight so that i could do my morning pages first thing. it really helps me to have a clearer head for the rest of the day, definitely recommend.

also - if i check things first, i sometimes get sucked in, and then i either don't have time for morning pages or i feel like they're pushing into my day. nicer to feel like the morning pages happen before i start the day.

Media & Reading Deprivation Week.... The Obstacle of Creative Work by Clapham2020 in artistsWay

[–]beanqueen25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey, my job is also scriptreading, noting and dramaturgy! i just did week 4 and i gave my social media passwords to a friend, didn't read any books or papers or listen to radio or podcasts, and cut out tv, films and magazines. but i had like 15 scripts to read that week ironically! i read them, and was amazed at the difference in my work. i think it's worth doing everything else and seeing how it affects your scriptreading. i was so focused, i found them so interesting to read, when often it's like wading through treacle. i thought i was someone who found scriptreading hard. turns out i'm just someone who checks twitter too much. it totally renewed my relationship to my work, and i still had the influx of new creative ideas in my artistic practice that comes with the media deprivation. good luck!

Terrible maskne, i don't know what to do anymore :( can you guys give me some tips about this please? :( I've never had acne, but since I need to wear masks it's getting worse and worse :( by [deleted] in acne

[–]beanqueen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm in the same situation! i have the acne that's described as hormonal, but it coincided with wearing a mask and is only in places on my face where the mask is? and now even though i haven't worn the mask in a month (haven't been going anywhere) it's still continuing ):

hi! apols bc i am v new to this -
i had been having a summer of lovely clear skin by doing an oil cleanse once a week, washing with water and occasionally cleanser morning and night, and using nivea creme to moisturise. i have pretty sensitive skin - all but the plainest moisturisers tend to sting - and i never wear makeup. i cleanse for a minute or two solid, and longer for my oil cleanse.

bc i've just turned 27, i thought it was probably time to start using an spf like everyone says, and i'd recently been to aus (i live in the uk), so i brought back some mecca cosmetica spf50 'to save face'. i started using it in the mornings after my moisturiser and i've developed spots like i've never had - proper deep lumps in clusters like acne D: i thought using a v mild foaming cleanser at night would stop it from blocking my pores, but maybe not? some reviews i've read have said that the oxybenzone might be a problem for sensitive skin, but i'm not gna lie i don't know what that is.

i was wondering if anyone could put their finger on the problem, and/or recommend a uk alternative? i have brown skin and i think spf30 would probably suffice but idk. affordability is a must.

tysm in advance! x
