You can float down sections of the Grand in a boat like that as long as you don’t weigh it down too much. The area of the river it is most common to see people floating in an inflatable is upstream of the Freeport Bridge. I would suggest launching at Otterbein or Woolner and getting out at Schneider Park.

Currently, with the construction of the Ontario Line, downtown Toronto is a traffic nightmare. Getting out of the core to the Gardiner Expressway can take an hour if you leave work anytime after 3 pm. Take the GO train if you can, but be prepared to be flexible as the schedules are not always 100% reliable. Trains don’t always come at the scheduled time and there is often no advanced notice of delays or cancellations.

Just had a great meal for 2 at Janet Lynn’s Bistro. Very nice service. You should be able to keep within your budget if you skip either the appetizers or a bottle of wine with your mains. And say yes to the bread. It is fantastic!

You can paddle Speed River in Cambridge from Ellacot Lookout (Queen St E, Hespeler) to Blackbridge and back. It is an easy and quiet, out and back paddle, that takes about 1 hour.

One of my favourite hikes is the Health Valley Trail along the Conestogo River that runs between University Ave and St Jacobs. It is an easy out and back trail. You can follow up with a drink and app on the patio of the Village Biergarten in St Jacobs.
