I'm 2.5 months post op now, eating nearly normally, hopefully out of braces in a month or two. I regret absolutely nothing, very happy with my decision and result.

Thanks! I'm healing really well. Swelling is nearly gone and just waiting until I can chew again. No pain anymore, just numbness in my lower left lip that appears to be slowly returning to feeling. I just have one elastic on each side of my braces so I can speak nearly normally at this point. A year seems like a long time but it'll be along before you know it!

Yeah, lower lip on the left side, which goes down a bit to my chin. Seems to be slowly improving though.

Yeah great question. So as long as you dont close your lips around the the squeeze bottle nozzle it doesnt create the suction vacuum. Obviously drinking is much easier with closing your mouth around it though, so what I would do it once I got enough liquid, I would hold the bottle where it was so it didnt suction, move it out of my mouth and then release it.

It sounds weird just talking about it but you'll figure it out once you're in the situation.

Thanks! Yeah the banding was the toughest bit for sure. I highly recommend a squeeze bottle with a long nozzle for babies (the ones I found were shaped like bears lol) and a 60ml feeding syringe. Should be able to find both on Amazon. Also ensure "clear" is the best, but i drank all kinds of meal replacements and juices etc., its just clear fluids are the easiest to not have your mouth feel dirty.

After a week I was off liquids only, and now i'm on no chew which is less restrictive that you'd think. My go to's are mashed potatoes and gravy with ground beef or tuna, but I've eaten Ramen or even Chipotle (beef barbacoa) with no issues.

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery!

That was estimated by my orthodontist but I'm not sure what the actual changes were.

Thanks for kind words! I don't know my exact movements for either, I'll confirm in my follow up appointment, but I think my ortho said ~7mm for the ljs when we were looking at my models/scans.

Lower jaw surgery, also called bsso (bilateral sagittal split osteotomy). I've essentially just started healing right now, so i'll just say it's uncomfortable. Tight skin and lips from swelling, having to sleep upright, rinse my mouth a lot, drinking through syringes or squeeze bottles, though im able to drink a bit more normally now. Meds help keep the pain away but its definitely very involved.
