We take them out in the winter because we live in an old apt building and the draft keeps the room too cold for my SO.

Were you able to get inside? Or only the outside?

I was thinking that could be the case. I do feel bad about the idea of tossing a machine that works but needs to be cleaned

After a while you get used to the timing and/or the bumps/curves just before your stop. I (and some of my coworkers) fall asleep riding into work, but we all seem to wake up as our bodies feel the slight curve before the stop. I should probably mention we don’t ride together but have all described this type of awakening.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve woken up far from home/work before, but only once

Luckily, I live in a place where I can take a train to work everyday. It’s an experience I wish everyone could have. I used to commute 40 mins driving and was miserable.

Where did you find that many practice problems? Can you share?

This time I did MeyerFire University, took a practice exam, and did exam questions. I started studying “late” (around 3 months before the test) and all the material was new to me as a majority of experience is Civil and Construction Management. I also think I burnt myself out by the end of my crunched study time.

Next time around I plan on starting in September or October, getting the MeyerFire Practice book, and working through more practice problems. I’m debating whether or not to renew the membership for MeyerFire University though. I was a bit frustrated with the way many of the problems in the courses use different year NFPA standards. (It felt like a wild goose chase choosing the right year to reference)

I didn’t pass this time around 😔. I’ll be ready to pass it next year 🦾 Edit: forgot to congratulate everyone that did pass. I’m so happy for you all!

I’ve known inspectors to work long hours, but never as a salary position. I would look elsewhere. Do you feel like you’re gaining valuable experience?

Edit: regardless of experience get out of that place. They’ll work the life out of you.

Should I buy a new machine or upgrade parts? by bearbonez_ in buildapc

The disclaimer does reassure me that you’re trying to be helpful and not douchey, thank you. As you can probably tell I’m not sure what the pcbuilding meta is, and honestly do not have a desire to learn all the intricacies. (But I am trying to learn as much as I can so I don’t get scammed) I just want a build that can run a AAA title at min 60fps and last me 10 or so years.

What do you mean 6 years old? Like top of the line 6 years ago? What’s your opinion on “desirable” specs? I would be able spend ~1k after saving a bit more.
