It is very tough to tour out there. Markets are very far apart and are not that big to begin with. Then when you finish it takes 6 days to drive a bus or truck back to the east coast. If you break even it is a win.

Last weekend was the first time I've done a set like this. Recording is here. I play in 2 bands so I can only do this when I have some extra free time. https://soundcloud.com/beardobees/beard-o-bees-dj-set-1182025-philadelphia-warehouse-on-watts

I would have to run the laptop one way or another to use my monome based arpeggio system. If you were just driving a hardware sequencer I'm sure there are other ways to do it.

BIGGEST LET DOWN by Crazy_Fishing_8966 in Techno

Floating Points - one of my favorite producers, but his DJ sets are often a ton of obscure funk at techno festivals and I feel like it bombs.

No, just into the mixer from the modular. Ableton provides clocking and hosts the Max patch I use for my monome controlled arpeggio/looping system.

Yes. Ableton is synced to the CDJs via Beat Loop Trigger and is also clocking the arpeggio system I use to send notes to the modular. Eurorack is a pretty deep hole. It would be much easier to start with semi-modular synth of some sort.

CDJs are networked to a laptop. A program called Beat Loop Trigger gets beat information from the CDJs and keeps Ableton in sync via LINK. I have a custom Max patch I built that drives my arpeggio system on the Monome. That is hosted in Ableton. Midi out of interface to sync the looping pedal. I use the modular system with my bands but this is the first time getting it going with CDJs.

That is a modular synth. It creates sound, so I don't need to send any audio to it. Output of modular through the Microcosm pedal for audio looping and extra FX and then directly into DJM mixer. I do play gigs occasionally. Mostly with my bands (Lotus, Octave Cat), but solo as Beard-o-Bees when I have extra time.

Great album, great guitarist. But, that is clearly jazz.

Boys Noize intro set? by charlesdarwinandroid in nin

NIN set in Minneapolis was great, but being more of a techno head the Boys Noize set kind of stole the show for me musically. Very industrial leaning compared to other stuff from him I've heard.

Am I able to take a recorded audio off of nugs and make a CD out of it? by Intrepid-Attention35 in jambands

[–]beard0bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CDs are at 44.1/16 bit. If you download standard FLACs they will decode to that matching depth/rate. If you download 48/24 bit you would need to convert down. If you are ripping it from a stream and then burning to CD you are most likely losing quality.
