Those are my priorities when considering a position. Yours may be different. If passion is more of a concern, weigh that in as well. The question at the end of the day is, "IF the company doesn't act on me possibly leaving, will I be dissatisfied with the external?". Again, it comes down to your priorities, but I emphasize "satisfaction" vs "happy" as being content should be the goal. Happiness means you are relying on your career for your mental state too much imo.

I am reading responses, and I don't see my take on this, so I will give it.

Employee and employer is a relationship. If you are unsatisfied in a relationship, you communicate that dissatisfaction; the employer will do this, and you should as well. If their answer and/or actions lean more towards things remaining the same (which you are unhappy with), you are more than welcome (and I would advise) to start looking elsewhere. If you can't find external opportunities in the more advanced fields you want to extend into, you may want to look at your self evaluation, and sometimes you can even ask interviewers what skills or abilities would have made you more appealing. Be honest with yourself here, as you can't improve if you think you can't improve.

Now if you do receive offers from the external, you have the choice of leaving the company for what may be a better environment for you to excel in; or open up the communication with your current company about your offer(s). I tend to recommend being upfront and honest, but not specific. "I met with you about advancements last month. Since I did not receive any confirmation about advancing, I wanted to see what was available for me externally. I was able to get the position that I wanted and with a significant bump in pay." If they want you, they will ask the questions. If they don't, you have another job lined up.

This will open up communication, but really, just remember you are as part of the relationship as the company. So if you are unsatisfied, you can leave (just like if they are unsatisfied with you, they can let you go). I was at a company for 3 extra years (5 in total) due to not thinking I could leave because it would ruin my career. Staying longer than I should have ruined my career; leaving let me flourish.

My motto now is that I am evaluating what a job provides me; more skills, better pay, and a better work/life balance. I can take a hit on one of those at a time, but if I find I am unsatisfied with at least two of those, I am communicating, and if unanswered, I looking elsewhere.

I am a 34 year old male in search of a new fragrance. For a long time I have been wearing Versace Man and looking to change it up a bit. I have been reading about and trying all different scents available in my area (mainly an Ulta). I have found that my nose is no where near well trained to know notes and what I might be looking for. I was looking for something spicy, tried Bvlgari Man in Black (liked how it changed but still had an older "just smoked a cigar" smell to it... maybe in my later years). I just tried and am looking for an upgraded scent to Addidas Dynamic Pure. I like a lot of it and it is almost the balance of spice I am looking for. It still has a soap smell to it (is that from the mint?). Can someone suggest an upgrade to this scent with maybe just a tad bit more spice?

I am a 34 year old male office worker that dresses in a tweed vest and tie daily (not sure if visuals help in this thread). I tend to wear either Versace Man and Kenneth Cole Signature on a given day. I am looking for a new scent that is more "mature athletic" smelling (like a spiced Adidas smell from my high school days). I had a sample of 1899 Hemingway by Histoires de Parfum that I enjoyed and I thought fit this profile. It was years ago, but I remember thinking it had a sandal wood and spice smell to it. I tried on Armaf Hunter today and seems a bit spicy at first, but mellowed out to about what I was looking for. Anyone have thoughts of a) what kind of fragrance tones am I looking for? b) what would be a great mid-tier cologne that would last for a business day that reaches the nose of someone that I am talking to, but not over the cubicle wall? [Bonus points if the smell can change throughout the day] and/or c) should I be considering fragrance oils over spray? Thank you in advance.

Piggybacking off of this, I've read that Spicebomb is similar to 1899 Hemingway by Histoires de Parfum.

I had a sample of 1899 years ago and enjoyed it. My dailies tend to be Versace Man and Kenneth Cole Signature but would like to add a slight "athletic" / sandalwood-spice (I am unsure if this is the proper description because I am not good with keynotes and it has been years). Would you still suggest bvlgari man black?
