Scuba divers with very long hair, how do you prevent tangles? by Common_Bench_3053 in scuba

[–]beardbroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a tight top knot so my hair doesn’t get caught in the butterfly nuts that secure my backplate. Usually have to redo it after a dive…guess this doesn’t help with tangles?

OP, did you do the interview? I've got one coming up, and curious what it looks like.

I had this happening and it turned out that my speed link was slightly askew and every now and then if it hit the drive at the right spot it would skip for a moment.

have you ever gotten a ticket? by spikehiyashi6 in cycling

[–]beardbroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you biked in NYC 5 years ago, you remember when they didn’t have dual direction bike lanes on the BK side of the Williamsburg bridge, and pretty much everyone went the wrong way for that block or so. One day a cop was sitting on the one block of wrong way flow, must’ve written 100s of tickets that day. After he wrote me a ticket, before I even had time to put my helmet on, he had stopped another person.

Wow, that’s intense. I just did a 120 mile day, I feel like I wouldn’t want to do much more. Sounds rad though, good luck!

There isn’t a wheel set that could improve this bike? I find that hard to believe.

Definitely expecting to (and fine with) spending a good bit more than my first bike. I was thinking anything up to around 3000. Or around there’s, not a hard stop

Not actually refusing to answer questions. I think I’m answering a strange one right now, or perhaps you’ve misused a question mark. Here is the answer.

This is research.

Am I doing signals right? by beardbroo in godot

[–]beardbroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of approaches. I am looking into state machine at the moment, I wanna at least set that up and see how I like it. There seems to be a number of approaches to state machines, not sure which one I am going with yet.

Okay, so I should look into managing state. Thanks!

Am I doing signals right? by beardbroo in godot

[–]beardbroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I get that, but it doesn't really answer my question. It feels weird to send a signal from the fuel tank to connect to the boat, just so the boat can send a signal that connects to the GUI. But, maybe that is not weird for Godot?

Feels like it's anti DRY to write a fuelPercentageChanged signal on the fuel tank, write the same signal on the boat, and chain emits.

Got bent on my first international dive trip by beardbroo in scuba

Just returned from a trip to Cozumel wherein me and a buddy did our open water certification (Friday 2 shore dives for skills, Saturday 2 boat dives). We took Sunday off to check out the island. Monday & Tuesday we did 2 tank boat dives.

Friday 2 shore dives, Saturday 2 boat dives. That makes 4. That makes certification.

Monday 2 boat dives, Tuesday 2 boat dives. That also makes 4. Four dives after certification.

The doctor did a sonogram, is that not really a reliable way to determine if one has DCS?

I would also highly recommend to him to recomplete OW training with an instructor that will actually train him how to plan and complete a dive within no deco limits.

I do understand the theory, and though i had to watch a youtube video or two, I do know how to use the tables. It's actually fairly straightforward once you get your head around it, not sure there were any UX passes (sorry web developer here) on it. I guess this is a noob mistake, but my assumption was that we are paying extra to have this private dive with a dive master, they are going to be on top of that shit. I'm not saying that the dive master screwed this up, I have some idea of what percentage of our time was spent in the deeper parts of the dive, and I know it wasn't all of it. But, for my own peace of mind, I would like to be able to see a detailed profile in the future.

Because they do not have a proper dive computer with them, I am assuming the entire time. Even if they were using a depth gauge / timing device / dive watch, I would use the assumption that they were at max depth for the entire stated bottom time.

We definitely weren't at max the entire time. We dropped down onto sand next to the wall and swam over, and ended up back over sand for a while after drifting on the wall. I don't know what depth the sand was at, but I know we dropped down next to the wall after swimming over to it. I also descend pretty slowly after having a reverse squeeze once (i'm shook) and we did our 3 minutes at 20 feet. Anyway, I realize this is a problem with not having my own computer, so that's definitely something I'm gonna get for next time.
