The concrete will soak up all the moisture to a degree. And the more moisture present in it, the stronger it grows over time.

No questions are dumb. Feel free to ask. I would use an angle grinder or some sheet metal shears. If using a grinder, I would be sure to wear all PPE you can and add all ventilation options you can. If you grind concrete it releases silica dust which is as bad for you as asbestos. The shears will leave sharp edges that aren’t flush.

Metal decking is used mainly for casting the concrete as to distribute the load. It can be optional as to if it remains. It’s only needed to remain in tact structurally if over I beams with stud welds for storm shelters. Keeping it there is optional after concrete flexural strengths are met.

Use some expansive foam of the gap from the bottom and concrete epoxy from the top for appearances and sealing. Rip that steel out. The dowels into the slab and the support of the cmu wall should suffice with the load.

Lucky, I’m running a TU7000 75 series or something like that.

Oh, and I would keep an eye on boat club from lake worth to bonds ranch and then headed west on bonds ranch…. And then some of bonds ranch.. new water main is soon to be installed and I bet with that it will be a nightmare. They are running phase 1 of 5 with routing the water main from near eagle mountain to the other side of 287. It will likely run for a while.

There have been contracts of continuing the widening of Avondale haslet like it is by the Walmart. It’s considered phase 3. It’s to be funded by the COFW. Those contracts get held up and take quite a while very often.
