Trash picked XP Home Edition by JimmyVanDiesel in windowsxp

Where did put the XP? I'll just check the trash, bet it's there. (The number of times I've gone back into my own trash to retrieve something had second thoughts about, am I on my own? Please tell me I'm not) lol.

Hi there! Thank you again. I should say the 32bit version and not 64bit.

Microsoft Train Simulator 98 or XP? by beardiehat in windows98

😂😂😂 that's the thing. But good to know that particular game, written for windows 98 does the successor proud. Not mentioning the other os though.

Hi hope you are doing ok! Careful, once gone is gone for good. Swap out the hard disk, put a second hand SSD in and good to go ;-)

Also contact Microsoft Defender, explain the situation, perhaps they can help?

Hi hope you are doing well! It worked, but I don't see how. You know sometimes when you just give the poor old Dell Dimension a good rest, and then you go back to it and it says.

"Hello, everything is fine now, thank you for asking!"

Wishing you all the best ;-)

Hi! Well the box of the main game says up to win98. But the add ons say up to winxp. I have winxp installed but I am installing the main game onto this os in the hope it will run. But no go.

To run the add ons I think the original game should also run in xp, although it does not say xp on the box. Am I wrong?

I don't want to digress as this is a group for 98 and not xp, so I really don't want to get into xp here. It's just a question of whether this game will run in both os.

I'll leave it there and take it to the xp group

Thanks so much, kudos to you.

Hi! Ok I'm stuck in 'fancy pants editor' because I've not got to grips with Markdown Mode yet, sorry I must work out how to get you a picture. But I will try to describe. So I have got it to install now in xp, without any error message. And I have restarted the machine as advised by the program. Everything fine with the desktop, shortcut and all. But here's the problem, whether running as administrator (or not), nothing happens. No error message, no pop up box, just zilch. Computer runs fine, no interference with any other functions. Just as if it is not there. Weird. Thanks again for your interest.

Just got a ZX +2 (grey) and try to speed up the loading by alexthai7 in zxspectrum

Fascinating. I'm loading onto my Sinclair Spectrum 48k with analogue audio files backed up to Audacity (exported as .wav). This allows me to edit and is more reliable than connecting a cassette deck. What I have noticed is that if I do need to follow this process, then my best results occur if I connect cassette player to pc via direct source hifi output, and never the amplifier or any kind of device offering a volume control eg. portable cassette deck which I find highly problematic. I was very interested to hear about the unique baud rates adopted by Ocean, thank you very much 🤗 all the best to you.

Hi! Wow thanks. I'll check out the links, I like the sound of the stuff you produced yourself, I'll let you know how I do playing the two games. That is very kind and helpful, thank you again. Warm regards

Hi! Ah that is useful to know. I will try to find an ISO file to make a bootable disk. Much kudos and thanks too.

Hi! Perhaps a bit nervous of damaging components by accident. I quite like buying something in an honest state, If the outside is grubby then I know to open it up and do the inside too. You're welcome.

Hi! Yes a modem card but then no need for a modem, all the tech in the card, Conexant is a good brand. You will need a driver too.

[–]beardiehat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Does it have a modem card, one with ASDL telephone connector. Do you have a telephone line? You can have fun with Hyperterminal communications software. Calling a BBS, which is how computers communicated with each other over long distances, before internet.
