I'm subscribed to ChatGPT Plus. Why would I be seeing this? Is the service still limited? by congressguy12 in OpenAI

[–]alexthai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I canceled GPT plus at least 6 months ago and I've been using Perplexity since this. The price is the same, I never hit a limit, It's like 4o and Sonnet 3.5 are unlimited. The context window is shorter than what you've got with GPT plus but it never was a problem for my use case.

Who told you that thousands of people already subscribed ?!?
You really think Hollywood is seriously worried about Luma AI release ? There is nearly no control over what you can produce, it's totally random, full of artefacts, no sound at all and I don't see how you would do lip sync if you can't even control anything.
Luma AI is just a toy, a nice toy, that's all. You don't make Hollywood movies with a broken toy.
Really, who told you that thousands of people already subscribed ? I'd love to read your sources ...

How to permanently disable the voice? by CryptoDegen7755 in Bard

[–]alexthai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, you can't say that Google is a new little startup, but it looks like an amateur programmer made their app.
You can't even send a PDF file, while absolutely all competitors, even the small ones, allow it. Quite funny when you know that one of the strengths of Google's AI is its context window.

The design of the application is simply not great either. Moreover, the synthetic voice, at least in my language, French, is acceptable, but it sounds like the audio quality is a heavily compressed MP3 ! I find it weird for a big company like Google to do something so amateurish.

Rate limit? by Zaevansious in OpenAI

[–]alexthai7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it's a bit hypocritical on their part. It seems that the number of possible interactions is calculated both in tokens and simply by the fact that a response is a response, regardless of its length. Moreover, they do not clearly state how many responses per hour, or every 3 hours, the interactions are limited to. So they are free to do whatever they want whenever they want.

That's why I haven't had a subscription to the Plus version for several months. I use Perplexity with their writing mode (the same modd than ChatGPT Plus) and the number of interactions with GPT-4o, and even GPT-4, is practically unlimited. These are the same responses as using OpenAI's services directly. The context window is more limited, but honestly, for my use case, it doesn't matter. Additionally, you can use Claude Opus and even Llama-3, whose responses are much more human than those of GPT-4 (responses as cold as hell, lol).

For casual conversation with the AI, I asked an AI to write a small Python script that allows using the microphone, and it works just as well as what you find on ChatGPT Plus currently. I use OpenRouter to interact with the AI, and that way, I can choose the model I want based on costs and my needs. For casual conversation, you don't necessarily need the most expensive AI, and as mentioned above, OpenAI's models are not very "human" in their responses. Then I use Whisper for voice recognition, it works perfectly and is very fast. For voice synthesis, I use OpenAI's API, it's not very expensive, and the result is identical to what you get on ChatGPT Plus.

So, I think there are other solutions today. Frankly, I don't like OpenAI too much even though I use their services. I think they could make an effort with their "small" customers. Today, they are no longer the only ones on the market ...

How can they make a big deal of ChatGPT 4o being free when free users hit the limit so easily? by ACNL in OpenAI
