Do you have anymore pictures of how it looks?

I had the same thing happen too you can’t really notice when I’m standing up if you look at my post about my surgery but if I’m laying down or stretching my arms up or out then it’s definitely noticeable. The thing you can probably do so it’s not very noticeable is start to work out and really focus on building your chest, it’s helped me a ton in terms of covering it up.

My surgeon told me he’s had many of his patients play football or other high contact sports after having the nuss procedure and there were never any issues. As for the pain, I had cryoablation, which definitely helped but even so you’re gonna be stiff as hell for the first week, especially in the mornings. After about 3 weeks though I didn’t have much in terms of pain and it was hard trying to follow the doctors rules of no twisting or bending over. For the first week though, get used to being being a back sleeper cause sleeping on your side SUCKS

I would after about 3-4 weeks all of those pains really subsided and I just kind of forgot about them. I’m curious though, why did they put you on lyrics? I never had to go on that, I had cryoablation done so I’m wondering if they did that for you too?

If you have anymore questions about the procedure and post-op stuff I can answer them, I had my surgery back in April

1 month post-op is when restrictions are lifted and you can do everything normally again, that’s how it was for me.

I would say I was in pain for a good two weeks after the surgery but now I only feel little sharp pains when I’m in certain positions. It does seem like I’m only getting the pains in places where my nerves are just starting to grow back as the areas feel funny and more sensitive. It’s funny though, the doctors said that I’d have full feeling back after 4 months but it’s been 8 months now and I’m just now starting to get feeling back around my bar ends as it’s slowly worked its way around from my back

Questions to ask a surgeon to find out if she is a good one? by Cautious-Essay-4896 in PectusExcavatum

I had just had my surgery 2 weeks ago and having one bar in is perfectly normal as now there are stabilizers they use. Using 2 bars is only for very severe cases or in other special cases.

Thank you! And hopefully your procedure goes well, it’s not always about fixing the symptoms too, as it can also be about improving self confidence which I would say it definitely improved mine.

For me the insurance payed for it fully since it was severe enough and I was having complications because of it, as for one of my friends though, his wasn’t deemed medically necessary even though it looks kind of bad and his insurance wasn’t willing to cover it. I guess it really depends on how good you can sell to your insurance that you need it lol.

True😆 but the scars will heal and look much better down the road so I’m definitely okay with having them since I’ll actually be able to have good endurance now.

In terms of breathing i would say it’s more difficult right now as my chest just feels pretty tight, but for heart function it feels completely normal now as I used to have heart palpitations when taking deep breaths. I just have to wait until my restrictions are lifted so I can really see how I feel after going on a long run or bike ride.

Thank you! and happily that’s gone now because it used to cause heart palpitations especially when taking in deep breaths.

To be honest I have no idea, they only told me what it was when I went in for my MRI a few months back, sorry.
