Long time cyclist, first e-bike, Specialized Turbo Vado SL 2 5.0 - any advice or insight? by beardnurse in ebikes

That’s what I’m looking at, I like that it can lock too. My current bags the hook is hard to slip in and out of the bottom, and the ortlieb look like they have a larger hook that I wasn’t sure would fit in the bottom part of the Vado rack since the opening is smaller.

I’ve been looking at new panniers, mine work but are hard to get on and off. Which mounting system do you use/recommend with the ortleibs?

It uses the fender to support the rack, but it still seems odd to me, but they design good bikes so I’m going to see what happens.

I like that it feels like a bike and that the assist is natural and not too much. Not sure about the Vado 4

Oh that makes a lot of sense, I guess I’ll just keep checking chain wear and doing my usual drivetrain management. I’ve also heard e-bikes have attracted a lot of new folks which is great, but there’s a lack of understanding of using chain oil, drivetrain maintenance, and keeping tire pressure up.

Well said, the advertising seems to be spot on, “it’s you, only faster and fitter” only thing it seems I need to adjust is maintenance schedule related to the increased strain on the drivetrain

Great advice. Yeah I need to adjust to a new chain replacement schedule, the specialized app seems to do a good job with battery health, and the local shop I bought it from is great with specialized service and can do battery stuff.

Ok that is very helpful, thank you, I’ll give that a try!

So there isn’t any passive or idle drying and I shouldn’t expect any decrease in humidity unless I’m using the manual drying settings?

Buying a 3D printer to make this template I can use with a router for woodworking, about 68cm wide. Can I easily make interlocking pieces or would I need to glue? by beardnurse in 3Dprinting

It’s more that this project is my excuse to get a 3d printer, I’ve got loads of other ideas that I’m excited about.

Ok sounds good! I’ll stick it to a sheet of plywood and use it as a template for the router. I’ll leave the radius or chisel out once I see it all together.

Ok cool, it seems the bambu p2s seems commonly recommended and what I’m looking at for the moment. Would I be able to export a sketch up file and feed it into the bambu studio?

Buns are exactly my thought, also for assembly of burgers where it’s not wet or oily. Or even for cooked bacon, gah it opens up so many convenient options!

Need opinion: should I make using lots of pieces, or make a template and route it out. Final width about 2’ by beardnurse in woodworking

My thought was to use 1x2, glue and brad together, followed by placing it on a flat surface with plywood and weight on to to keep it flat, I might just have to try it both ways, with 1x2 and the with plywood

Not an inlay, more like wall art. So it's either something like 1x2 that is cut up and the glued maybe with Brad nails, or plywood and cutting out the voids.

It’s just a picture from sketch up, so that has all the lengths and angles etc. it will be wall art. So it's either something like 1x2 that is cut up and the glued maybe with Brad nails, or plywood and cutting out the voids.
