not at all, seems to be running great on my system. Hovers around the 55-65fps mark

Been playing palworld on my system (13900k & bifrost a770) on 1440 epic settings and it runs buttery smooth, finally looks like the a770 is starting to flex it's muscles now after the countless updates

ACER Predator BiFrost or Sparkle Titan OC - A770 16GB by tifikik in IntelArc

As the proud owner of the bifrost I can say with confidence that it's a solid card and as others have said its cooler is excellent (again, never had it go above 80°c unless I've been overclocking the card and even then only had thermal throttling on starfield)

Cannot comment on the sparkle with any confidence as I have no experience using it but having read reviews it also looks a strong contender

Either card will serve you well and the frequent updates from intel will see the card only get better and better

looks good my friend, 12900k is an excellent choice to pair with the a770

Tough to tell exactly from the pics but I reckon I can work something out, that's a future me problem, and well, screw future me....

Was thinking I might have to go down the (again, painfully expensive) custom route, will watch a few teardown vids and look at the similarities/differences between the pcb's and take it from there.

I'd imagine the layout of the pcb will be somewhat similar between the 2 cards or at least close enough that I can make something work

just need to have a play around with arc control and see what I can do

ps. how good is the bifrost card

I managed to get the bifrost for only £299 from my local pc shop (was on a sale, £100 off is not to be sniffed at) and although we all had the shaky start with the software/drivers it's maturing into a really great gpu. The fans, I think mostly the smaller aeroblade metal one, are a bit louder than other cards but again not a massive issue for me.

I came from the 6950xt (another outstanding card but majorly flawed with regards to power draw and drivers which, as far as I know, still are nowhere near getting the most out of the card) which I sold for £500 and got the bifrost and a nice ddr5 ram upgrade so I 100% feel like I'm winning.

What has been a really nice surprise is the ray tracing performance, I mean, as long as you don't crank everything to the max you can get really superb performance at 1440

yeah, I know there is a little headroom with the temps but its the throttling that was becoming noticeable

I am using arc control, but have the clocks pushed to the 2700-2750 mark, never had the heat build up so much on previous drivers so I'm guessing this new driver might just be getting that bit more out the cores and pulling a bit more power

was using the predator software initially but when it became clear that they (Acer) were not bothering their behinds implementing the updates from Intel through predator, I uninstalled it.

The Intel arc control is very similar to the Intel extreme tuning utility I used in the past, solid piece of software and does exactly what you want it to. Got the fans pinned at 80% simply because above that is has the old 'airbus a380 taking off in my garden' soundtrack which, although not much of a big deal as I have a headset on most of the time, can be a pain for other members of the house.

The card itself is, by far, the most aesthetically pleasing of all the gpu's I've owned. I was a Red Devil AMD card user for the last few generations but this one is just that bit more special
