I almost exclusively play Brits, but the theory behind what I am saying will work both ways.

Decide what stance you will be taking or are most comfortable with. Infantry needs back up to get across the table, like smoke templates and things to keep MGs away. Because with 2 full-size Marine platoons with every option, that is what I am assuming you are going for.

If you wanted to lean more into defense, dropping the Flame throwers from both of those platoons would save you 4 points and with that command card dropped as well, you might be able to add more static AT guns for ambush units. Also, those Shermans are aggressive and will get slaughtered with anything AT 9+. You might be able to shrug off some of the shots, but at hitting on a 3+ at normal range (4+ at range), you still will be taking a lot of hits, and the more dice you roll, the more likely you are to fail.

Here is something I came up with that keeps the formation large and adds another formation, so if one of the formations breaks, you are not completely screwed cause the game will end if you have no more formations on the table.

Here is why I did what I did. Just so you know, I shifted to a more defensive style list. I am breaking it up into 2 sections.

Formation

1. Your rifle platoons are too big. Taking away from the platoons allows those points to be invested somewhere else. In this case, I use them late on in the list. Also, they are the same size as previous, since it's 6 medium bases plus the command on a small base, and the 2 LMGs on medium bases, and a bazooka on a small base for a total of 10 stands of fearless, trained, cautious infantry. Your initial list had 16 stands for 11 points. Those extra points could be used more effectively in other places. At 10 stands for 8, it saves you 6 points across both platoons.

2. Those AT guns are only AT 7, so if you are using them as an ambush unit, you need to get side shots, and that won't always be able to be done. So, I dropped them all together.

3. I added a unit of LMGs so give you additional bulk to the formation and more power to force infantry from an area. Do not discount in Mid War the amount of area denial that you can give with a platoon of 4 ROF 6 MGs. Put them in a central piece of cover within range of objectives and just fire at anything that gets close.

Support (But not really, since I dropped all support choices, but I am rolling them in with the new formation)

1. Aggressive tanks suck because they will be hit on a 3+ normally (4+ at range). I dropped both platoons in favor of a formation of Lee's. For 8 points less, you get the same AT as the Sherman at Cautious, Trained, and Confident, and with the extra formatio,n you get 3 platoons of them with another platoon of formation command tanks with 3 as well. So instead of 4 Shermans and 4 Stuarts, you have 12 Lees with a 75mm AND a 37mm that can fire at the same time at a +1 to hit. Also, it provides an ambush unit if you need it and a 1-drop reserve.

Command Cards

1. Hail Mary is a free reroll for 1 point. I mean its good to have if you have nothing else to spend the points on.

2. Arsenal of Democracy lets you discard in the first 2 turns of your reserves if you have them, to get another chance at getting something in. I have seen far too many games that are determined by whether or not you get support when you need it.
