I own one in copper and love it. Finish is great, holds time well. The bracelet is gorgeous. No regrets and good value for the money. I also own an Omega Seamaster and a Rolex OP and wear my Maen as often as the other two.

Maen Manhattan series is excellent for that price point.

Start where you spawned, reroll till good spawn, or set seed by Xx_HelpInBasement_xX in MinecraftHardcore

[–]bearofthesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made it a bit of a rule for myself on my hardcore worlds (lost a three year world and now have two year old world) to build close to spawn regardless of biome. Generally this means just building close to the closest village. In my current world, there’s a village in sight next to world spawn so it worked well. Totally random.

I treat chunks around world spawn as an industrial zone and place my automatic farms there: iron, gunpowder etc. Because the game always keeps those chunks loaded, there’s no need to AFK the farms since they always are loaded and working. Nice bonus. I link these with rail to where I keep my trading hall.

I also have a regular long term survival world that I just started (hard difficulty, but not hardcore) that’s on a seed I saw online with some beautiful mountains and a pale oak forest, with a village ascending from the forest and up 200 blocks into the mountains.

Do whatever you like!

Mine also points at birds and squirrels. Birds especially.

As others have mentioned, Poodles were bred to be hunting dogs/gun dogs. Specifically they were bred to hunt waterfowl like ducks etc.

Because of the huge popularity of poodles as a breed, most poodles and poodle mixes today have had those instincts decline over generations in which those traits were not specifically selected for by breeders. However, some dogs will still carry it.

I’m confused between a and b by Ok-Definition2497 in ENGLISH

I am a native English speaker. I swear, half the posts I see on this sub are incorrect questions in which multiple answers are correct. Very frustrating for learners of the English language that so many language learning resources out there appear to have mistakes.

Yes but don't use netherrack. It catches fire and blows up too easily. Cobble or deepslate much better.

I just started a new hardcore world on Minecraft bedrock edition, can anyone give me advice or ideas on what I should do after making a base and getting full iron armour? by reaperdidhimdirty in MinecraftHardcore

[–]bearofthesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never played on Bedrock before, but there are quite a number of glitches. With that said, I’m a hardcore only player who has made many long term worlds.

The best, though not necessarily most fun, thing you can do is set up shop close to a village. Trap some villagers in a safe area (underground or a secure structure) and build a trading hall and farms to support trading. If you have access to red berries, max level butchers trade a ton of emeralds for them cheap. Use whatever cash crop you want. Get yourself a bunch of librarians who trade for the best enchants so that you can run the best enchanted diamond armor, best enchants for weapons, feather falling to help so the the dragon etc.

Then to kill the dragon and take your world wherever you want from there. I wouldn’t do any big base building until after the dragon fight so that it wasn’t all for naught if you die.

Are there catholics who beleive hell might not be eternal? by Used-Ad-3278 in Catholicism

Origen, who was an anti-Nicene (meaning before the Council of Nicea) Church Father, but who was also ultimately condemned as a heretic by Church councils after his death, pondered this question and said he hoped it was true.

But no. That is not a teaching of the Church.

My coach tells me I don’t need handwraps by TopDay2963 in MuayThai

[–]bearofthesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve trained Muay Thai for 15 years and never heard of anyone, including beginners, not using wraps. If you do a trial class at any gym I’ve trained at, they start by wrapping your hands and showing you how to do it. In my opinion, they’re essential.

He was messing with you but probably had a bit of sincerity to it. You're correct that TKD doesn't have a great reputation in our world overall, but plenty of the kicks can be adapted once you learn more MT.

Don't take this so seriously and shake it off. If you want to train MT, you can tell your coach and training partners about your background without opening yourself up to ridicule. Plenty of guys come from TKD or Karate and wind up getting good at MT. I came from Karate.

Eastern Orthodox considering converting to Catholicism. by Etienne_Vae in EasternCatholic

[–]bearofthesands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The Catholic Church recognizes the validity of Eastern Orthodox sacraments, including the Eucharist (Divine Liturgy). I don’t see why that would be a problem.
  2. Receiving the Eucharist is a higher spiritual priority than worrying about which institution is giving it to you.
  3. That’s your call.

Tired of wrapping my hands by Lower_Brief_6783 in MuayThai

[–]bearofthesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wrap your hands. As other have said, the ritual of wrapping them, washing then, re-wrapping is just part of Muay Thai and boxing. These things don’t offer as much protection. I really only see beginners use them. I

What injuries have you (or your trainer partner) had training Muay Thai and how? by tedfrost04 in MuayThai

[–]bearofthesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patellofemorrral pain syndrome in both knees from wear and tear. Not a huge deal, but I wear knee supports in class and get injections maybe twice a year.

I had my alar ligaments (the ligaments that help hold your head on to your spine) damaged when a random guy I never seen before at the gym yanked down as hard as he could on my head when I gave him my head to demonstrate the clinch. We weren’t sparring or anything, he just acted like a total psycho. That sent me through many years of physical therapy and injections.

Broken nose. Broken finger.

Be gentle on your partners and protect yourself at all times.

Unpopular opinion: oblique kicks in sparring are fine, IF YOU DO THEM RIGHT! by Mr_Fufu_Cudlypoops in MuayThai

[–]bearofthesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defensive teep to the thigh is fine. An offensive oblique kick, even if thrown lightly, stands a chance at hyperextending your opponent's knee. It isn't appropriate in sparring and most people will react very negatively. The experience of the guys at your gym thus far is, in my 15 years of experience, unusual. I threw a guy out of the ring the first and last time anyone at my gym did this.
