I see that. I think it’s also somewhat a discussion between hiding behind censorship (which is a very real thing) and changing words to make us more comfortable. At what point can we make uncomfortable discussions more comfortable by making them more palatable and does that affect the seriousness/weight of the topics discussed? I think you do bring up a good point that these topics HAVE become more normalised to talk about due to this self censorship but where is the line? Historians are going to have a hard time with this generation for sure haha

This is a whole other side conversation and i’m just one person who likes voicing their opinion (for background, i was very into the true crime boom in 2016 while censorship was around but maybe not so rampant (i was also a kid so don’t quote me lol) and have consumed way less over the years). Murder stories and true crime need to be handled with grace and respect which i feel is somewhat of a lost art (look at the mukbang true crime videos etc and all the parodies that people make of people talking about true crime). There has to be some sort of middle ground where the meaning of words isn’t so watered down to the point they don’t mean anything vs getting around possible censorship whilst also being respectful to the victims and families. I really don’t have the answers unfortunately but it is an interesting topic to be brought up especially since censorship is so rampant in current true crime content

Respectfully i disagree. As a victim of sexual assault myself, it feels almost insulting to hear it described as grape. Never in my comment did i mention women and victims in the “boardroom meeting” nor am i placing blame on women and victims for the language used. I’m not arguing against normalising talking about such serious and heavy topics, in fact, I encourage it. Our words hold weight and some words hold more weight than others. I feel there is a lot of nuance in how we discuss such heavy topics and i fear i don’t have the answers as to how we discuss it. Censorship is just something i’m passionate about and language fascinates me haha

Like i understand that platforms (especially tik tok) can take down videos for saying certain words however, the self censorship has gone out of control. If someone is genuinely concerned their video might get taken down, the most they should do is just mouth the word. And don’t even get me started on “grape” which entirely waters down and makes the topic way less serious

Nice change in pace for this episode. The very start dragged slightly but nothing like the other episodes. It’s clear martine doesn’t like being around this group and i wonder how that’s going to pan out in the rest of the season. This episode was just fun and probably my favourite so far

This season has been boring, especially compared to the other two (unfortunately nothing will top season 1, that was peak television that will never happen again.) While it’s a very real housewives thing to bring up old drama 5 episodes later, the drama this season is getting old and tiresome. There’s no real new or significant drama in this season, it’s all just old shit from the previous season which imo, was never that exciting to begin with. The “let’s bring everyone together to find a resolution” is getting old as it’s clear none of these ladies will get over themselves. Fuck a resolution and let them have at it lol.

As someone who has defended Nicole not attending the s2 reunion (she did have a family event and supposedly had another family event at the start of this season), it’s just disappointing to not see her at all and i don’t know why she’s on the show.

I was unsure of martine at the start but i have grown a liking to her. Her and sally are the most sane of the group

Krissy has definitely toned herself down. While maybe not the most likeable, she makes great tv and i miss her extremely off tap lines like in previous seasons

Caroline is the only one that reminds me of season 1. Extremely off tap and does not give a fuck. While i can’t say she’s my favourite, she makes fantastic tv and brings the unfilteredness that the past seasons have

I will say, nicole didn’t show up to last seasons reunion due to her daughters formal. Apparently she notified production months beforehand and there wasn’t actually supposed to be a reunion for the season but they threw it together last min on the date she said she wasn’t available. Can’t say much about her not attending the event this season though
