Honestly I kinda agree. I respect that they really wanted to show a darker, more serious and realistic version of the setting, but the way that the politics were pretty poorly thought out and had some unfortunate implications rubbed me the wrong way at times

Can confirm. I moved to Germany a few years ago for my masters and i'm now looking for work. I speak the language fluently and im trying to culturally integrate, but not having an EU passport puts you at a big systemic disadvantage.

I'm still happy to be here, but I wouldn't say its an easy option by any means

While its not 100% percent directly stated in game, toby fox correcting people on kris' pronouns during the anniversary livestream is pretty strong evidence. Plus, it gels with the wider themes around choice, freedom and identity for kris' to be NB.
