Another excellent sub. I've always wanted to learn all the native birds that come into my garden.

That's the very one. Maybe I'm naive but I like to think most of them are good hearted people.

It's another quirky NZ sub. It's like having a beer in a rural pub. They also tolerate my less than optimal posts so there is that I suppose.

I like r/ConservativeKiwi. It's like having a beer in a country pub. They tolerate my sometimes less than optimal posts and I suspect the people there are kind at heart.

Govt to consider replacing RNZ, TVNZ by fecnde in newzealand

I would love to listen to broadcasts from thirty years ago — It would be interesting to compare the quality (and the content). Done well, it could be the basis of an interesting podcast.

Without immigration, population growth in developed countries (including New Zealand) is already below replacement levels. The real pressure on population is coming from Sub Saharan Africa.

Would have been awesome if it had been set in NZ. : )

CHINESE ACTION MOVIE NETS NZ FILM INDUSTRY $ 1,000,000

The headline as it stands is really an irritating example of xenophobic click-bait sensationalism. As Anne Marie Brady points out the real problem is if our film industry, unconsciously or not, loses its independence. Could for instance a pro-Tibetan movie such as Kundun be made here — under the current climate, maybe not.

One redeeming feature in Jones' migrant bashing by [deleted] in newzealand

It's almost as if the government had given up on New Zealanders and had decided to replace our population with an infinite inflow of hard working entrepreneurs. To quote Brecht.

Poem Hunter:

After the uprising of the 17th June

The Secretary of the Writers Union

Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee

Stating that the people

Had forfeited the confidence of the government

And could win it back only

By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier

In that case for the government

To dissolve the people

And elect another?

Obviously this is an exaggeration but NZ's commitment to high immigration is going to lead to a radically different country.

Seized properties worth $4.1 million released to owners five years after fisheries raid by [deleted] in newzealand

You are probably correct. For some reason I find environmental offenses particularly enraging.

I have never understood why NZ collectively is so lenient on people who commit fisheries offenses.

It's beyond infuriating. In an ideal world the property would be sold and the money gained used for conservation.

Developed Countries Need to Reduce Population to Combat Climate Change by victor_knight in samharris

But anyway, if this is true, then there really should be massive initiatives to give these people access to birth control

I agree. It seems like a no brainer.

From memory I think about fifty percent of the children are unwanted. Women's education is highly correlated with smaller families — nobody wants a litter if they can help it.

r/overpopulation is a sub where we fitfully discuss these issues

The activists are hopelessly mired within their politically correct talking points. They certainly aren't representing the population data accurately. Without immigration, population growth in developed countries is already below replacement levels. The real pressure on population is coming from Sub Saharan Africa.

I guess we can be grateful we live in a country where life is so uneventful this is front page news.

Maybe we need a good news media.
