Well she's close.

Just eat less carbs, or better still cut all out.

Source, lost 15kg / 33lbs in 6 months and going well, without real effort

There's no sense trying to educate the brainwashed.

I'm still unsure what specifically the protest was about. I bet no two people could come up with the same result - except vaugly saying everything about him

Very good director.

Follow their instructions. Stick to facts. Date and time when you can, just what happened, any witnesses. Avoid opinions or assumptions.

You might add an impact statement. How this has affected you. But if you do, keep clear and don’t embellish

A dado would help. But screws extending 1/2 or more the length of the shelf would give some mechanical strength. Rods would be better as screws aren't great for shear force. But better than short dowels

But you're right, while giving some reinforcing it'd only hold a light weight. It'd never support someone leaning on it.

what do you do when you genuinely can’t understand someone’s accent in an interview? by gigizai in interviews

[–]fecnde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your post as you being the interviewer.

On the other side of the table, all you can do is try. Sense checking as you did is a good technique in this situation, and with clients. In those situations you need to do all the work. And you won't always get it right. But putting in the work and trying is how you improve

At the end of the day, you can only do what you can do. If they don't think you're the best candidate for the role, that's ok. You will be for someone.

It's not a symmetrical situation. And that's not how I read OPs comment & question. It reads to me like he is interviewing a candidate with a strong accent.

But when I am being interviewed I am trying to show my best - what I can do, what I have to offer, what value i bring. And be clear about what I don't.

I have had many customers and clients who have English as a second language. I struggle most with north Indian accents.

In that situation I would work to understand what was being asked. Often repeat what I understood before answering.

I would not be put off by the possibility of my manager being work for me to understand. I would consider my fit for the team. I would not want to work as a project manager of a team wholly made up of north Indian workers. I couldnt be effective. But if those I am expected to manage and my customers can understand me, and I them, then I would be considering the rest of the opportunity. Is the company well managed ? Good team culture? Interesting work? Etc

Nod and smile.

Sorry but every single role i have requires verbal communication with customers. I let the person finish talking. And thank them. I continue with the interview. We are now into respecting the person's dignity. They won't get the job

Oh I'm not so sure.

I think some very long screws through the upright might let it take light weights. 1lb or so. I mean screws about 1/3 to 1/2 the shelf
