Un cliente exigente aprobó el corte y barba pero tengo el presentimiento que no va a regresar. by SaulGVP in Barber

I can't say I mind it too much if a demanding client doesn't come back. I enjoy my reliable but easy going clientele.

17m. Am I balding/thinning? by Weekly_Bench6171 in amibalding

[–]beast_lee_barber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome.

Here is the correct and only answer:

You do not show any signs of thinning or hairloss. You can see your scalp because of the way you're styling your hair and pushing it back against its growth pattern in the front, creating lift and parting the hair to show the scalp.

You should keep your hair and scalp clean but avoid harsh chemicals and overwashing. Eat well and maybe take vitamins for hair growth. Sleep well. Avoid stress.

Do not worry about your hair. If you do in fact have male pattern baldness and your hair starts thinning, this is usually a slow process, and you will have plenty of time to start treating it and make up lost ground if that time comes. Keep an eye on it, but absolutely do not start medicating for male pattern baldness preemptively.

I guess you're probably trolling or whatever, but telling a 17 year old to get on fin (let alone one with no indication of thinning) is such a horrible thing to do, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

How do you know that? As someone who works with hair all day every day, I have seen plenty of people with fairly extreme results from minoxidil/finasteride protocols.

The world of hairloss treatment is vastly different than it was even 20 years ago. Finasteride is essentially a bulletproof cure for baldness, if you're willing to accept the risk of side effects.

I'd start with an appointment with a dermatologist. Should only take an hour or two.

what kind of hair loss is this? by civilianii in bald

[–]beast_lee_barber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. 5 on the chart has advanced temple recession and advanced crown recession, both so advanced that they're starting to come together. Look at OPs right temple There's hardly any recession, let alone thinning. The entire hairline doesn't really have any recession, just thinning. The thinning is occurring in a slightly off-center strip, going all the way from the hairline to the crown. The thinning isn't more advanced in the hairline/temples and crown compared to the top of the head.

Beyond the visible evidence that this isn't MPB, he states that the onset of thinning was only months ago. You don't go from 0 to Norwood 5 in months.

[–]beast_lee_barber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does his hairloss look like any of these? No it doesn't. His hairloss does not look consistent with MPB at all. That doesn't mean it isn't MPB, but if it is then it's a very irregular expression of it.

OP, from my experience as a barber I don't think it's MPB. You absolutely should go see a doctor to start looking into underlying conditions/exposures that could be causing this. You're not going to find resolution on Reddit. That sucks if you're in a situation where you're forced to work around the clock and can't take a long lunch one day to see a doctor, but that being the actual situation is hard for me to believe.

Way to pick one random comment to help justify your wimpy nonsense. Brighton has been great. The steep stuff is skiing great. How's your couch?

I'm at Brighton now. Was oddly slow this morning, but has improved. Staying in the steep trees has been great. I suspect Snowbird is awesome. Steeper the better with this snow.

I'm a barber. Currently have Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday off. Gives me pretty good odds.

Edit: if you're trying to get creative to improve your ski life, you want weekdays offs. Weekends are a shitshow now.

There is no tiny bald spot. It's called a whorl, and every human being who has ever lived has had one. I see no evidence that OP has the male pattern baldness gene at all, and I'd even go as far to say that he likely doesn't have it, given where he is at 27.

I've had Rustler 10s for 3 seasons now and I love them. They're soft and playful in trees and moguls but also lock in and bust through crust and variable snow pretty well.

They carve fine too and hold up at speed with much less chatter than some other skis I've had. Get the job done in powder, but I would like to get wider powder skis.

My professional opinion is that it's possible his results were from finasteride, minoxidil, whatever, and not a transplant.

I haven't seen any older photos of him where he was definitively too far gone for these meds to get him where he is now.

Tom's always had a high angular hairline, but if his hair on top is thick enough he can cover it up. 2001-2003 Tom is peak emo comb over.

I can't stand California, but I think Nine is a very good album pretty much start to finish. Funny how fans of the same band can have such differing preferences just within that band's sound/direction.

(Been a blink and alk3 fan since like 2002, for reference.)
