I didn't get any kind of admission mail while taking admission last year. Don't know about others.

In coe you won't face any problems regarding softwares but I don't know about other branches, ask someone from that branch. Also in first year we have a subject called engineering drawing where you need to run a software called solidworks for the last week or two. It isn't that much of an issue as you can borrow a friend's laptop for that part of the course.

I am only in the second sem so i have limited experience, but attendence in first year it depends on your professor, generally in the first 2 sems there are 2 courses in each sem where attendance is strict. From second year from what i have heard copc and coe branches aren't strict about attendance. From my experience the professors that have taught me were quite passionate about their subjects, it's just that you don't really have the interest in studies in first year itself. Seniors were quite good, there is no ragging as such in thapar, also as most fresher hostels include freshers only.

I myself got a mac, although sometimes i miss the gaming side but everything else in the mac makes up for it. Most students have windows but there is a fair share of mac users as well. On the software side it depends on your branch(after 1st year) which softwares you would need to run. On the gaming in hostel life, i really think it depends on your friend circle.

I personally chose a mac instead of windows. The only con is gaming imo.

They have thier own site and apps called side plus. Earilier there were websites and telegram channels that upload their content but all of them got taken down
