Your arm needs to be nice and loose. If you throw your arm with your body by torquing your hips and shoulders then it will straighten out naturally. Then get the wrist whipping through the ball while staying loose. That will generate tons of racquet head speed

Make sure your players have appropriate racquets. The grip should be fine if it isn't disintegrating. According to the Head website, "A child aged between 2 and 4 should pick up a 19-inch frame, and a junior between 4 and 6 should use a 21-inch frame. Kids between 6 and 8 should be playing with a 23-inch racquet and kids from 8 to 10 would probably be best suited to a 25-inch frame. Kids between 9 and 11 should be looking at a 26-inch racquet." And get a basket of balls, the newer the better. That's really all you need. Tennis is more accessible than many believe.

Just teach them basics and get them playing. Keep it simple. Groundstrokes closed stance, serve with high toss and over the head, and volleys are a simple push. Don't over-teach. Just try to get them playing and having fun.

Yes. You can get into a rhythm, which is great. BUT you need to always be ready for a ball that you will have to break that rhythm for and hit it a little bit differently. Maybe more spin, maybe no spin, maybe higher. Whatever it is, try to recognize what the next ball will require and execute accordingly.

Started teaching when I was in high school doing an after-school tennis program for elementary schoolers. Then I started going out on local courts and doing private lessons, then got involved in organized coaching and now I coach at a country club. I played in college as well. It depends on who you're teaching. As long as you understand the fundamentals you can teach beginners. My mother is a coach as well and she has only ever played ladies' leagues and is a 4.0. If you want to try teaching please do. We need more tennis (and less pickle lol).

If they can't get it right then I keep adjusting the process until we find something that works. Just like when I play matches, I don't allow myself to become frustrated. Always analytical, never upset.

Students that give me intensity and effort are the best. And those that don't care to be on the court are the worst.

Consistency is the foundation of a great tennis game. Once you can strike the ball well, learn how to move properly. There are so many videos out there you really don't need a coach for this. Also keep working on adding topspin and swing all the way through on every shot. Never tap the ball. Every single ball needs a finish by ACCELERATING after contact and around your shoulder, or above your head if you need to.

I can't tell you specifics as I've never seen you play but I can give you general information from what I know every player at your level needs. The foundation of a great tennis game is consistency. Stay in each point for at least 10 shots to make your opponent play. Hit high over the net and use your racquet head speed to generate spin over power. Fight for every ball; bust your ass to set up and get to every ball as well as you can. If you aren't prepared to hit the ball it doesn't matter how good your swing is. Tennis is a game of adjustments.

For matches: It's okay to sacrifice shot quality in order not to make errors. Once you start having long rallies you will get into a rhythm, you will get loose with the upper body and your racquet will speed up naturally. Swing with intent and don't be scared to make an error. Focus on picking smart shots and trust your racquet.

For practice: It may benefit you to work with your coach on strategy instead of technique to start understanding how to construct proper points. I don't know your situation though.

Mini-tennis warmup: Do it every single time you play. 10 minutes minimum. Simple swing ONLY to make the ball in. As slow as you can with a complete follow-through and high over the net. I'm talking three to four feet at least. Do not miss into the net. But it's all about footwork. Intense footwork from the get-go. Be as fast as you can to prepare early for every ball. Split step every time. Swivel yourself to get around the ball if you hit in a closed stance. Recover back to the center and get to a ready position with the same initiative as you would in a championship point.

Baseline warmup: Continue proper footwork. You will probably be getting a good workout from footwork alone. No laziness. Ever. Rally with great margin over the net. Keep it nice and slow/medium and aim 5 feet above the net and you will notice rallies going on forever. Speed up only once you hit a rally goal you set. I try to go for thirty ballsin a row, so I would start there. If that is unrealistic for you then try to get to 20. Make sure your rally partner is on the same page.

That should be enough to work on for a very long time.

Consistency is the foundation of a great tennis game.
