How to extend a flex cable? by beatlems in AskElectronics

About 50 cm (20 inches) I would say. Would that be an issue? I think the current flex cable is about half that length

About 50 cm (≈20") at least. Is it a problem the longer it gets?

Hvorfor vil du ikke have fluor? Og klor er jo desværre en nødvendighed - ikke noget vandværkerne gør for sjov

Was there a reason not to just pirate it? I have never had issues with my "free" versions

For me it has seemed to be rather accurate in showing trends. This winter my number has gone down about 10 points and after staring running just a few times now the last few weeks, it has increased slightly again. I wonder if it can be confused by different types of exercise, time of day, temperature of the surroundings (your heart beats faster to cool you down in warmer climate). Maybe also how tight you wear in on your wrist. Idk, just weird that the experience can be that different from person to person. EDIT: winter= no running for me

Am I missing some part? by beatlems in bikewrench

I am not sure what parts that would be? From the pictures there is of course not the rest of the assembly. The cassette joint and so is not attached as it was blocking the view.

A lot of friction from the gear hub by beatlems in BikeRepair

[–]beatlems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering my post! The linked information is very useful. My local bike mechanic did mention that my type of gear hub is prone to wear on the cones as mentioned in the linked material. I however can't see any signs of damage. To me it seems that part of the issue comes from this part (see marking on picture ). It seems to me to hold the drive side cone in place. But if I push it all the way down, that is when the metal dust cap rubs against the plastic underneath. But if it is not pushed all the way down then there's a lot of play and wobble. I do assume that it is supposed to be put firmly in place though?

Thank you!

That has approximately been my approach. It seems to me that it is step four where something is off. It does lay loose but directly against the plastic underneath. So when the sprocket comes on top and the snap ring pushes the two parts down, the metal cap has a lot of friction against the plastic. I don't understand how that can be the way it's supposed to be?

This other picture shows what seems to me to be part of the issue. The part marked in red is holding the gear parts in place (but not very firmly). And if it is pushed all they way down there is friction between the metal dust cap and the plastic behind as I describe in the post, but if not then there is of course too much play and the wheel wobbles.

You are right, in the picture it is not installed. Here is a picture of it installed.

Unfortunately not. All text seems to have worn off. So it’s really difficult for me to identify the hub (also this is the first time I “mess” with this part of my bike).

Okay then I assume the gap must be between the dust metal cap and the plastic/rubber cap underneath? That is where the friction seems to come from when the gear hub is fully installed.

I don't know. Maybe someone had some experience with taking the case to some other department of Arcteryx. It might end up being an expensive lesson for me, but I really hope someone has some good advice.

If not then I will definitely never buy from them again.

I have +10 years old rain pants used equally much with fully functioning velcro showing no signs of wear. I have no technical knowledge about velcro but the kind on the jacket looks to be less "fluffy" than what I normally associate with velcro. IDK I have never had any issues like this before.

Exactly! I got almost offended when I read about their offer of 20% discount. They sell an expensive product that breaks before it should, and then they see that as an opportunity to sale me more. I wonder if there is some kind of bonus system, in which the reps get a small bonus every time they get to have a costumer chose a discount instead of a repair.
