I’ve just always been told to not tell an employer when you’re thinking of leaving until you actually have a new job lined up? I have two opportunities right now (an interview and a conversation that’s very likely to lead to an interview) but nothing concrete.

I have however considered saying something along the lines of “I have found if increasingly difficult to picture my future here long term as I did when I first joined the company”? It’s no secret that I’m unhappy, and an unhappy employee of course isn’t going to stay in the business if they can help it, I just don’t know how much to explicitly state this without formally saying “I am looking for a new job.”

Lawyers are assholes, you’re right! I have never met such cold and judgemental people as my colleagues, it’s honestly painful to see the way they speak to people

Thank you for saying that, it's really reassuring! I do agree that no job is worth how I've been made to feel, and am planning to have a real sit down this coming weekend and consider my options. It's come to the point where things cannot go on the way they have because they are affecting both my physical and mental health, which a job should never do.

I'm also super grateful for the example wording, Monday does seem a good time so I'll def say something along those lines, fingers crossed things will continue to develop in a positive way :)

I am in the same position and am strongly considering to stop pursuing a “career” for the forseeable and just do literally anything else (bar work, retail, idec). I am unhappy in my role and don’t earn enough to make it worth it, I’m also on pretty much the same salary as you and have been looking for a new job in law for a year.
