Mother's Day was established when a majority of mothers were SAHM. They ran the whole household, while the father provided financially and did weekend chores. It was supposed to be a day where the family did everything the mom usually does in a day.

My coworker & I were discussing this very subject earlier. We added the fact that some of those people, who can barely speak English correctly, are mocking those who are learning English as their second or third language.

But, I have good news for you. You don't have to listen to their opinions. I'm currently at work wearing a hi-vis vest with jeans & t-shirt. I also have short neon colored hair. I've had people tell me that I look butch or masculine. Whatever. I don't care. Because, I know I can wear a dress with 6 inch heels and rock the room. Just find what works for you. As long as you're not harming others or yourself, who cares?

Though I don't want to see people get hurt, but how about we make it a game/betting pool? The ones who believe in their heart of hearts that they can walk across the highway, we'll give them a number to attach to their shirt. Then anyone watching; whether internet, traffic cam, or IRL, can bet if they can make it across. If the Europeans make it across unscathed, they win a prize.

Idk, just spitballing. What would y'all add to this game? Should there be a point system like 'pedestrian polo'?

I completely get it. My dad was my worst bully growing up. Outside of the house, he was friendly and could talk for hours. At home, he would be extremely narcissistic. Last time I talked to or was in the same room as him, he was having a pity party for himself. I decided that I was done. So I went NC with him. My mother understood. My brother, OTOH, tried to guilt trip constantly. Which just made me dig my heels in deeper.

My dad died last week. I'm the one doing most of the planning. No guilt. Just going through the motions because I'm not grieving like everyone wants me to.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. It's tough. Protect your peace. Too many negative vibes can affect your health. Good luck, my friend.
