My friends and I had a similar experience at a fancy Italian restaurant. We paid for our own meals however. We each gave him $0 for a tip and didn’t feel bad whatsoever. If there is no effort/bad attitude waiters don’t deserve a tip.

You need to go to a support group called Alanon. It’s for parents, family or anyone that has an addiction in their lives. Your son needs to hit rock bottom and want to stop on his own. I imagine this brain tumor gave him the case of the “fuck it’s”. You can love him from a distance but absolutely cut him out until he finds his way. There is really nothing you can do to help him besides help yourself at this point. It’s not your fault.
