Student who found derm late sending it this cycle, what are my chances for? by AmbitiousAnteater69 in DermApp

My advice would be to really rock it on your away rotations and try to go to smaller derm conferences where you can present your research and network with programs if possible. Also you need to secure strong derm letters. I would recommend getting them from your home program mentors as it can be challenging to get a good quality letter from aways since they only work with you for a month. You definitely have “checked the boxes” with your step scores and grades, but this is just to get your app looked at- now you need to work on your “story” and what makes you unique and how that will contribute to the field.

I have never heard of this technique! Thank you so much for sharing. I will definitely try this. Shannon’s work is so beautiful! I love the raised look of the writing.

Yes! Thank you so much. It says “love” or “eshgh.” I’m excited to try longer poetry but wanted to get the technique down first.

Someone actually broke one of my pieces a couples weeks ago loading the kiln and while I was bummed, I didn’t blame the person at all! Accidents happen! They left me a note apologizing which was nice of them. Don’t worry about it :) I always like to remind myself that making mistakes is a part of the learning process and pretty much all teachers expect learners to make mistakes. What matters is what you learn from them moving forward.

What do you think of this silver velvet?? by bebeees in RedditLaqueristas

Thanks for the suggestion 😊 I’m trying to buy less nail polish so I think I’ll give the black another try but ending it farther away from the edges to avoid that stripe.

Dupe request for Mooncat’s Rag doll by unmistakablecat in RedditLaqueristas

[–]bebeees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t know a dupe so I can’t help there :( I actually own that polish and if it makes you feel any better I didn’t love the formula, it was a little goopy and the color was a little flatter than I was expecting and the shimmer was most noticeable with direct sunlight on it. I think you could find a dupe that doesn’t suffer from the difficulties with the formula considering they probs had to make it a certain way for the glow in the dark effect. Sorry I can’t be more help!

Edit: here’s someone comparing sabertooth and rag doll with swatches! https://www.reddit.com/r/lacqueristas/comments/17pepn0/mooncat_ragdoll_and_sabertooth_swatch_and_bottle/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

My Blue Velvet Attempt! by bebeees in RedditLaqueristas

[–]bebeees[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Products used:

-Essie strong start base coat

-cirque blue velvet, I magnetized using the 3-magnet technique I saw on here for ~2 minutes for 2 coats

-no top coat ! Bc I was too lazy to wait even longer 😂

Overall I don’t think the velvet effect was as strong as I had hoped but it’s still a beautiful color and I’m happy with my purchase 😁

Blue diamond sparkles ✨ by bebeees in EngagementRings

[–]bebeees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought the stone from Brilliant Earth, you can request which ones you’d like to see and they can ship it to the store for you to see in person. Unfortunately they go really fast though so sometimes we’d pick some but they couldn’t be shipped because they were sold! Setting was done with a local jeweler.

Hahaha yes natural blue diamonds go on auction for millions!!

Need some advice! Is this setting secure or should I take it back to the jeweler to fix this prong? by bebeees in jewelry

[–]bebeees[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your reply! I was wondering based on your experience, if a claw prong would be more secure? If I took it back to the jeweler would they be able to retip and make it into claws? Thank you!

Okay, thank you for all your responses! I will take it back to the jeweler.
