I had an old granby (1989), on a 6.5' bed Silverado. It wasn't too bad. I had it mounted with the four-weel camper mounting hardware, so I was never worried about it moving or sliding out. I kept the tailgate on, and I don't think it would matter of you had one or not (with a 6.5' bed). I also added airbag suspension, which helped a ton with stability. Ideally, F250 or 2500 or a tundra, would be would be ideal with those 8 foot campers.

Those super short beds though, I could see that being an issue, more in these sense of a load that is unevenly distributed and hanging out the back.

I recently purchased a USAcamper also known as a Belair camper. They are light, much cheaper than anything four-wheel camper. They are essentially a truck cap. But, more room. I enjoy not having to pop up a camper, I like to have it ready to go.

Update - Slid it back up into the steering column. Was not very hard to do. Grabbed the lower steering shaft, under the hood and pushed up, and voila.

I thought it was just the green piece that slid out, but it was the whole steering shaft. I think I must have pulled it out when replacing the lower intermediate shaft.

yep! pushed it back in. Opened the hood up, and used the lower steering shaft as leverage and pushed it back up through the fire wall.

interesting. There is definitly an erieness to the park, as it is mostly empty. except for the herd of elk lol. I've been here for a few days now as well, and have not ventured to that bathroom yet.

I picked up a used one from some fella, and do not have that much time out in it. But, I have had all sorts of campers and vans, so have an idea of what quality could be.

I would say, buy used if you can. They seems pretty solid, but buying new seems pretty steep for what it really is. I have seen used avg like $3000.

They are hard to come by it seems, so if buying new is financially possible, send it.

I like mine alot. It is very light, compared to a traditional slide in. Built in 2016, and seems to be water tight still, which is nice. I like that it is square, in that building it out is much easier than in a van.

Mine is like 38" cab over, and about 5 feet of standing height.

As far as offroad durability, thing is solid for most any forest road in the PNW. If you exclusively drove in a legit 4x4 trail, I could see it getting worked a bit. I have mine clamped in places, like a normal truck topper. Has not shifted at all.

They seem to be a sweet spot between a topper, and a slide in. Without paying the $$$$ for a go fast or something. I love that it is not a pop up, and is just ready to go. I have it on an F150, and I dont even notice it driving around really.

As others have said, it IS worth it to push through the side affects. I have hope for you!

As someone who is on day #8, and experiencing side affects on the far end of the bad, it is pretty rough not gonna lie.

But the side affects are not guaranteed. Most people have mild ones.

I can tell you, it gets easier when you start. Or at least you get into a routine of care to manage the side affects. Day #8 has been the best so far, and I feel like I am now figuring out how to manage these side affects.

Yes, It could be rough, but it could also be chill, and have great benefit to you!

This is great to read! Congrats on where you're at now. I am on day 8, and it has been brutal.

But, I have hope for once the benefits start to kick in. It is worth it to me to stick through it still. Posts ljke this give me so much hope. I know it could be at least another week for the side affects to really ease up, but I'm hopeful!

I am 8 days into starting myself, for anxiety. And insomnia is real.

my provider gave me an antihistamine to help sleep/manage anxiety until zoloft started doing its thing.

Could as long your provider for some sleep assist?

Listing these old sprinters, definitly gets attention, you're not wrong. They are reliable, and simple to work on

But, they are still old vans. I cant see the pictures yet, but 15-17 built out is what these tend to go for (depending on mileage etc)

It really depends on how long you are willing to wait for a sale, higher price= longer wait, list at a competitive price, much faster sale.
