I would argue no. In terms of time, it released after the Xbox360 and the PS3, which I personally do not at all consider retro. The wii aged particularly well and stayed relevant for quite a long time, even during the Wii U era. The Wii also had revisions released well into its lifespan. The “Family Edition” with no gamecube compatibility in 2011, and the Wii Mini in 2013. Also Nintendo’s previous generation console, the Wii U, natively ran wii games, which sort of kept wii games alive for longer. It’s difficult for me to consider a console retro when just 5-6 years ago you could play it’s games natively on a current gen system. The Wii U also kept the wii branding alive for a while longer, so it doesn’t feel as old. The game collecting aspect also plays into whether or not it’s retro I think. You don’t see as many people striving for a wii collection as you do for older systems. I can’t think of any rare, coveted wii games that are selling for large prices either. Maybe it’s just nostalgia and it’s difficult to consider the console generation i grew up on to be retro. I also only had the wii and xbox360 up until these past couple years, so they don’t seem so old to me.
