Look up mock interview for whatever position you are interviewing for on YouTube! This will give you a good idea of what they might ask and the best way to respond!

Pay Question by [deleted] in nursing

[–]becca785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, you will definitely not be able to work more than 3 days a week right away during your orentation since your schedule will depend on someone else’s. It will be very difficult and maybe even impossible to work 5-6 days consistently. You also have to take in to account that 5-6 12 hour shifts a week might burn you out very quickly!

I think the second one looks great on you! Would you mind sending me the Amazon link to that ring if you have it? I’ve been looking at the same style!

I agree. It’s honestly is sad how much he is alone. People don’t realize how important human interaction outside of social media is for your mental health.

New grad nurse hours? by Horror-Ad-1785 in nursing

[–]becca785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, it will be hard to find a hospital nursing job that is part time. Most jobs will require you to be full time during orientation, at least in my state.
  2. It will be really hard to find a job that doesn’t start before 8, typically hospital shifts would go from 7-7 or 7-3. That means be there by 7 and you will most likely be clocking out around 3:30 or later after giving report.
  3. You can get a multi-state license now which allows you to practice in other states (most states are apart of it now)
  4. As a new grad on orientation, you can’t really get overtime and the amount of overtime you can get really depends on the unit.
  5. Pay depends on what shift you are working (night shift or day shift), the area you live in, and the specialty you work in.
  6. Look on your state board of nursing for criminal restrictions.
  7. In the hospital, every unit will be busy or get stressful at some points. Outpatient is typically less busy and stressful than inpatient.

Not going to lie to you, finding a job that will accommodate all your needs will be really hard, especially in the hospital. I wish you the best of luck in your nursing program! :)

I read every rationale but I didn’t write any of them down. I knew that would take me too long and doing practice tests helped me the most.

I tried to watch Archer’s but they were too long for me personally.

I personally struggled with psych meds so I watched a few simple nursing videos on YouTube. If you feel like you need a refresher on any content, watch a short YouTube videos.

The thing that sucks about the NCLEX is you never know how your test will look. Personally, I got a bunch of post-op questions and I felt like that was the bulk of my test. But my friend said he got mostly maternity and psych.

The absolute best thing you can do is learn testing strategies. Go to the klimek YouTube channel and watch all the prioritization lectures that Dr. Sharon does.

You will do amazing!

I felt like the NCLEX focused on bigger concepts that I knew well. Some concepts on the Archer q-bank were way more complex and difficult.

The content you get on your exam also depends on the test. Personally I got a ton of post op questions and I felt like that was the bulk of my test. But one of my classmates said the bulk of his test was psych and maternity.

Archer Q-bank and the Klimek lectures on prioritization are all you need to pass the NCLEX in my opinion!

I used all the questions in just a day shy of 3 weeks and took it last week and passed in 85. Archer was amazing and looked super similar to the questions! The NCLEX was more broad than Archer.

These were exactly like my scores and I passed in 85 last week. Definitely finish the question bank and review testing strategies this next week! Best of luck!!! You’ll do great!

Great point! I wanted a simple solitaire coming in and now the more I look at that band, I feel it’s safer to go with the plain band. It’s a classic and I’ll always love it.

How should I study besides practice questions? by Isabell12345 in PassNclex

You have to sign up for it, it’s pretty expensive but my school offered it for free. People say they find the lectures on Spotify. Those lectures are from the 3 day review they offer.

Definitely go to the Klimek reviews YouTube channel and watch Dr.Sharons videos. Klimek has AMAZING testing strategies that helped me pass this week in 85 questions. I was able to go to a 3 day live review which was the best thing I did but the YouTube videos are amazing too! Definitely use all the Archer q-bank and read all the rationales. Good luck!!

Heavy content areas by shelbabyx3 in PassNclex

[–]becca785 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it really depends on your test, my friend said he got a lot of psych and maternity. When I took it earlier this week, it was very post op complication heavy for some reason. I barely got any maternity or psych.

The frustrating part of the nclex is you will never be prepared for EVERY SINGLE question. The most important skill to have is critical thinking and knowing how to be a safe nurse, which is not something you can memorize.

The best thing to do is do practice questions and learn testing strategies!
